House Purchase in Switzerland

I know in the UK, they do a discovery thing when you go to buy a house, but I am unsure if they do the same here.

Looking at a place near me, but it has an empty plot next to it, and fields close by and well I don’t really want to invest in a house next to or adjacent to a building site.

Could ask the commune I guess? Anyone any other thoughts… I am sure you cannot trust the estate agent to tell you the truth anything…

Then don’t buy it. It will eventually become a building site.

Yes. Do that. They will have maps which show the current situation of vacant land.

Sometimes it is protected and cannot be built on and other times it is ear-marked for development.

Sometimes the maps are online on a commune’s website but can be hard to find that way.

Your local Gemeinde (council) should have an online map indicating various zones. Their website should have planning applications, otherwise a visit to them will find out what’s going on.

Building sites don’t last forever. While the Swiss don’t throw up houses in 6 weeks like the UK, 18 months to 2 years will be long enough…
