Hi there,
Can someone here suggest if it is possible to apply for dependent permit with required housing contract which starts in future i.e. one month in future.
I have seen some very good houses but those are not immediately available but I would like to apply for my dependents permit as soon as possible.
Can someone help me here and let me know if there is some rule to have existing housing contract. I know the permit would take two months and the house which are available now are from April.
Would appreciate some quick response on this.
Thanks a lot in advance

I will just tell u some of my experience. Yes, there is an official requirement for the housing contract (that I know from immigration office post letters where they asked for a rental contract)-I dont really know if the contract for future works or no. BUT - as it usually happens in Switzerland u can negotiate, especially if you or somebody from your family speaks swiss german (also my experience-when I call they say one thing, when my husband calls-absolutely another). So if you call them or better come and explain the situation it increases chances to start B permit doing process (which is quite a long one).
Good luck!
P.S. Yes, just recalled how it really was. I applied to B permit through Gemeinde when registered myself in the village. To register you they need a valid renting contract. So you should try to talk to Gemeinde of the village where you want to rent (or better with already signed contract - I guess your spouse already has B permit and can rent something for you both).
While I don't have the exaxt same experience but would share mine. I am living here with B permit and I was applying dependent permit for my wife. The immigration office required "my flat owner shall provide whitten permission allowing my wife to stay". Upon contacting my flat agency they sent the approval letter. That is all.
Yes, you can apply using a future dated housing contract as long as the application is for a permit starting no sooner than the start of the housing contract.
Your best bet would be to contact your current agency, if they are ok with one additional person in the apartment. Some agencies are quite ok and provide approval for 2 people staying even in a single/studio type room.
Their letter of approval is sufficient/mandatory for the dependent permit process.
Also avoid changing address, whilst the permit is in process. Providing future contracts, change of address etc. can simply add / double the paper work! You would definitely need a bigger apartment and you can move once the permit is sorted out.
Good luck.
Dear All,
Thanks for your quick response on this.
By any chance do we have some source which defines the minimum housing requirement rule for family (Wife + 2 kids).
I have found couple of options with 2.5 rooms or 3 rooms but would like to make sure it this is acceptable and just wanted to find some source where this is documented.
Tried to reach the gemainde but unfortunately noone speak english there and I am still learning german.
Would appreciate if someone can point me to either the right thread of source.
Thanks again !!
