I bought Lady's bed from Qualipet, a huge plastic basin-type, and lined it with a soft blanket. Lady loves her bed but it slides on the laminated floor when she gets up. Is there any way I can stop the bed from sliding without damaging the floor?
buy some sticky rubber pads from any diy store (coop home and hobby sell em) stick them on the bottom of the bed and problem solved.
eta only 1 side is sticky
How about placing one of those anti-carpet-slipping-mat-thingys underneath? You can get them in any place that sells carpets (dare I say it? try Ikea!)
Get rid of the dog?
Mmmmmm . . . let me think . . . buy a bath mat (non slip) with suction pads. Place that on the floor, in the general area that you wish to have to `Lady`s`basket. Press mat down firmly to ensure suction pads are engaged. Place aforementioned dog basket on the mat. That might work?
Thanks everyone, I will try the pad thingies first, that sounds easiest.
Why should the op get rid of the dog when asking for help to make her dogs bed stop sliding
It's physics: I think that the dog may be exerting lateral force on the bed as it moves. As this exceeds the friction between the base of the dog nest and the floor the bed will slide. You see, it is the dog that exerts the force that causes the bed to slide. It is very simple
Fixed that for you.
getting rid of the dog won't stop the bed from sliding though, just makes it a bit less likely.
Dear FabrizioM, a famous South African called C.J. Langenhoven once said "If I don't have anything to say, I say it."
We have what sounds like the same type of plastic tub. Ours came with little rubber pads that were in a separate plastic bag. Have you turned the bed over to see if there appears to be somewhere to put these rubber pads? Do you see the name of the manufacturer anywhere? It could be Ferplast.
I would go back to Qualipet and complain. The other plastic tubs we bought at Fressnapf are by Josty. They had the feet already on them.
Rug grip, Ikea sell it, it goes under rugs hence then name. Look in the rug section of Ikea, about a tenner in the UK, probably at 3000 here but not only will it work it will lessen the noise of the dog scratching the bed.
