I see someone imported the old thread from EF, but it’s only a bit of 2012, so I thought maybe a new one?
Oh Happy Day has been blooming up a storm! This is a Kordes rose that blooms like this every year (this is its 5th) and keeps on blooming all summer. I struggle to keep it under 5 feet tall. It has a lovely scent, although not strong. Cut one stem, and you have a full flower bouquet!

My neighbours garden is like yours in numerous colours which is a double win for me: Not only I don’t have to lift a finger but I automatically see it all day long from the kitchen as well as the entire living area - while for my own garden (also lush but mainly green) I need to step outside and down the stairs

Mine currently? Messily.
Got a gardening firm come today to have a look and start sorting it all out and making it tidy again.
I had to cut many flowers in preparation for the heat that will keep us indoors during the hottest time of the coming days. The Casa Blanca lilies have been nibbled by scarlet lily beetles but still look gorgeous. I left the dahlias because they love the heat, as long as they have enough water…Gunga Din is busy these days.

Beautiful garden, your Hortensias seem to thrive too. (sorry if it’s the wrong name, I looked and apparently they go by Hydrangea in English)

Everything has thriven during all this rain…weeds, roses, good and bad. And schnecken! Here is the panicle hydrangea (rispen hortensia) I unearthed from the jungle when we moved here. It was a sad specimen when I found it buried under an eibe (taxus) tree. I liberated it and gave it a sunshine corridor, and now it rises from less than a metre (cut down in winter) to 7 feet in summer. The bees love it.

The last of the Annabelle hortensias (hydrangeas) are almost a foot across! Bombarella roses and mopheads are still going crazy, but not for long…many signs of an early fall. The hornets are already gnawing on the lilac bark, the hazelnuts are turning brown, and the nights are 10C. Wow.

Augusta Luise is overshadowed by Bombarella, but she still made a big effort this year. Her “colour” is more technicolour! I wish I could get her out of this corner and give her an own space, but I fear it would kill everything around.
The iris are in full bloom, as is the red rhodie.

The irises looked lovely and fresh after the storm yesterday evening.

Very jealous of these pics as I don’t even have a balcony so I have to sit in a park or go down to the Rheinweg. I do look on to a nice courtyard though
I was too lazy to water my garden last night. I had also forgotten to put my Hauertkugeln (fertilizer) into the ground when I planted things a few weeks ago.
So around lunch-time it looked like the weather was gonna change. I put all the Hauertkugeln where they needed to be and the second I finished it started to rain - a very wet rain. Perfect.
Then we had a break with the sun even coming back out and two more showers. How easy can “gardening” be?
Just now a thunderstorm has started, more showers (nice and soft rain, exactly what my plants and vertilizer needs now). But from one moment to the other temperature went down several degrees. Too bad.
At the moment we got sun, wet rain and rumbling in the sky at the same time … strange
Yup…we were just sitting on the covered terrace enjoying the mixed sunshine/gathering gloom coming from CH. Rumblings started, a smattering of rain, and now we’re for it! 5 minutes later…hail!!
I wish I had a covered terrace. There is nothing nicer than summer rain/thunder storm while keeping dry.
No hail here yet, still nice and soft water. In showers with pauses.
Kind of nice - I got all windows open. (no I don’t have roof windows
).
Air humidity jumped up and one can feel and smell it. 82% inside now.
Does that make you more “curley”?

yes, it does actually
It curls up nicely. Even better is a short walk in light rain, leave the drops where they are and enjoy the result.

Lush! Same here, all the green plants - belonging to the landlord - are just AMAZING. But the six lavender I planted this year don’t make a move! I mean literally not a move - they don’t grow but they don’t die either. Maybe I should check and Landi sold me plastic ones
While the lavender which must be about 10 years old now is pure joy. So is my Moroccan mint which must be about the same age.
