I am thinking of going to Museum of transport in Lucerne and I was wondering how is it?
Also, currently important question is: is there air conditioning there? With current temperatures and small baby with me this might be a bit of an issue...
It's really good. I'm pretty sure there is A/C in some of the buildings but you can go outside within the complex as well if you want some sunshine or shaded areas. Not sure what temp it is, sorry.
Amazingly babies have been known to live through those days where no air-conditioning is on hand. There is however a growing concern that a/c and its ilk will lead us to conditions to which babies won't cope.
They will live through than, sure, but going for fun to museum is NOT about being able to live through it, it's about good time, fun and comfort, and in such heat (oven like) there is nothing comfortable, it is in fact quite miserable experience.
To be honest, with a small baby, they are going to be too little to appreciate the museum itself. We took my son there for the first time when he was 4 and found it a more enjoyable and interactive experience.
Even at 4 years old, he got restless and bored after an hour or so but, three years later, he appreciated it all the more.
I wouldn't have taken him as a baby, regardless of the weather.
My uncle took me there over 40 years ago when I was about 14 - and I loved it.
I went again just five years ago with my son, who was 17 at the time, and I still loved it.
I also took him to see the museum at Dubendorf and found that highly enjoyable as well.
Of course, a baby is not going to appreciate it nor remember it, but we do not have to restrict ourselves entirely to things our babies will find highly amusing and entertaining.
And in the olden days, there were heatwaves as well, and we all survived. I think the first time I ever saw air-conditioning in a building was when I went out to work in Saudi Arabia in 82.
This is a good point and something that other parents with babies or very young children should note.
A baby limits what you can do but I found the time when our first was very young was a fantastic time to go and visit all those places that you never had time for before.
If you didn't find anything you liked their, you surprise me. There are trains, boats, cars, trucks, aeroplanes and helicopters all with he associsated history.
Maybe you just not interested in transport at all.....so, not the place for you.
Why are negative posts removed? Seems to disrupt the flow of the thread. If someone did dislike the museum and gave a negative response is that so bad.
