hi everybody. i am confusing here.i need help and advice .i lived 12 years in Switzerland and marrying a Swiss women for 9 years became Swiss citizen 3 years ago and divorced before 5 months so what if i want remarry again a women aboard .bring her here in Switzerland so my question is How long after a divorce can you remarry in Switzerland? is there is same problem or requirement .thanks in advance
Who today remarry or register a partnership would be required to demonstrate only that has been canceled the previous marriage or partnership, or dissolved. There's no more waiting, for example, after a divorce in order to marry again or to register a partnership.
Thanks jrspet for the quick reply. remarrying inside Switzerland look easier than marrying from out side and bringing her to Switzerland .that is what my friend told me
it might be a little tricky to legally live together in Switzerland without being married since she's not a EU citizen (at least that is how I define ABROAD)
The Swiss Government is very weary of people who divorce soon after getting Swiss nationality- so just wondering if they could make life difficult or not in such cases?
Once you are divorced, you are no longer considered legally married, meaning you can remarry (the essential prerequisite to marriage being that a person is single - either because they were never married or were once married and that marriage has terminated - be it through death, annullment or divorce).
At least that is the logical answer to your question.
In England, at the decree nisi stage, you are not divorced - merely officially separated.
The point is - however you arrive at the end point, once you are at that end point (ie divorced) you are free to remarry. Any intermediate stages (in English law decree nisi) do not count as being divorced and should not be confused with actually being divorced.
Hence the answer to question - how long do I have to wait to remarry once I am divorced? You do not. You are divorced. You can remarry.
This. If I was the OP I would be more worried about keeping my passport than remarriage if the passport was through naturalisation "facilitee". Divorce within 5 (i think, maybe 7) years of acquiring nationality if one did so through the marriage exposes the person to having the naturalization annulled. Most of the people got caught because they remarried so soon after the divorce with someone they brought over. I would keep my head down and not get married for a couple years in the same situation.
If it was naturalisation "ordinaire" it is another story.
