Any ideas if there is a cut off time limit to receiving the fines? Just hoping I dont lose the license. I have had a range of responses from friends meaning that some say I really could lose my license and if not the fines could be anywhere from 120 to 500 CHF so basically, I dont have a clue what to expect or when to expect it!
Got flashed by a radar two weeks ago and still no sign of a ticket. Around 70 in a 50 and I think that although it was of course my fault, I prefer to placed the blame firmly at the door of it being too early in the morning and me being half asleep still (not ideal)!
What was your car showing your speed as? Be specific.
If it was showing 70 then you're likely doing around 64-66kph. This will mean you can be dealt with in simple means - a payment.
If you were doing an indicated speed of more than 70kph then you are likely over the threshold.....
The lack of anything hitting your postbox could be
a) no film in the camera
b) you were over the threshold and will be invited for a "chat"

Mine took 3 weeks to arrive so I would expect it sometime soon.
I was clocked doing 63 in a 50 zone (by the radar on the road going towards la Maladiere just after you've left the motorway). It was corrected to 58 and I was fined 120chf as it was the between 6 and 10 km/h above the speed limit.
I'm guessing that since you think you were doing 70 (but were probably doing less (say 65) if 70 was your speedo reading)yours will only be corrected to about 63 making you 13 km/h over so expect your fine to be higher. I'm not sure about the licence as I don't know what the criteria are for that and you may be above the tolerated speed but I'm sure somebody will be along soon to help you.
Husband's boss lost his licence for 3 months for a similar speed in a 50 zone so maybe you should prepare yourself just in case. He received a letter inviting him to the police station.
Dunno how you work that out, but an indicated 70 is likely to be closer to a real 65, and the threshold would be set at a real 75, wouldn't it? So he should be easily below the danger point.
IME they can take up to 4 weeks to arrive, sometimes perhaps more if it's from a foreign canton. There's no expiry time limit that I'm aware of.

Right so in reality if I dont get anything through my door within the next two weeks, I may have to brush off my suit and look smart for a visit to the police station....nice!
I was doing a touch over 70 I reckon as it was 70 when I glanced down at the speedo. So it seems it will be touch and go whether I lose my license or not! That will be my fault but far from ideal when I need to be able to drive in the next three months for my wedding etc!!! Fingers crossed!

Here is the offical "price list" in french 10-15km/h to fast will cost you CHF 250.-, +16km/h will go to court. Up to 20km/h will get you a fine + a warning. If you had a warning in the previous two years your license will get suspended for 1 Month. See the Berne Police site and here , and here if you had +20 km/h.
Not quite. As listed in the article you linked, the amount over the limit dealt with by a fixed penalty varies by road, and is (including the +5kph margin of error) >20kph in town, >25kph out of town and >30kph on an autoroute.
Up to the court. In my own experience I did have two such offences within that timescale, and escaped a ban. Big fine mind. The suspension of licence is dealt with by a separate court and can also (or instead of suspension) involve an additional fine. IIRC the last one I had was ~500 from the canton I got flashed in and another 300 from the licence-issuing one. Heavy speeding tax or what?

I use net speed after margin. The margin of error depend on the type measurement, it can be as low as 3km/h for lasers and up to 15km/h or more for a police car that is following you. Official source . This is also the reason why you can easily pass a police car on the highway with real 130 km/h.
I can't remember the last time I saw a marked police car on the autoroute, TBH.
I overtook 2 yesterday driving from Geneva to Zurich, both times at 130 on my clock which I assumed was about 124, I will try a bit faster next time!
The last one two weeks ago. It was going ~110km/h. Not many dared to pass it.
Had an interesting situation a couple of weekends ago. We were returning from a long weekend in Eastern Switzerland and were on the outskirts of Zürich. I was doing maybe 120ish in a 100 zone and whizzed passed a red BMW, with, what I thought at the time, was a small company logo on the door. As I passed him, he pulled out and tailgated me till I pulled in after overtaking another car. He drew alongside me and prevented me overtaking the next car. "What a dick" I thought, without attempting to slow down. I glanced over again and the small logo said "Kantonspolizei Zürich" and the driver was holding up a small round sign with "Polizei" written on it. I nodded my aknowledgement and slowed down, wondering if I should pull over or not, he hadn't indicated anything, Fortunately, the motorway split ahead, so I veered off towards Bern and he continued towards Zürich centre. I'm wondering if anything will happen. He was alone in an unmarked car, apart from the logo, if he was equipped with a radar, he made no attempt to flag me down. I'm guessing he was on his way somewhere else and just wanted me to slow down a bit. I hope.
130 on the clock is 121 genuine in my VW and the Audi with its winter wheels, although its slightly oversized (but OEM) summer ones give an almost exactly correct reading.
Dont worry it will come! Depending on if the speeding was in the city or outside the fines vary - up to 15-20kms/h after deducting 3-5 would be CHF 40-60, 16-20km/h could be 120.- The next level is 300.- and loosing license for 3 months!!! Lets hope you are not there. The positive side is may be the camera didnt work well!
Most car speedometers read about 5% high - a deliberate setting from the manufacturer. Different tyre & wheel combinations can change the true speed from the reported speed so they build in some leeway. The police then apply a margin of error on the reading they take - usually 2 to 3km per hour upto 100 kph and then 3% above that (It's a few months since my last bill so I don't remember exactly). If you were doing an indicated 70 then your real speed would have been about 66 to 67 and they'd then knock 2 or 3 kph off for their margin for error - so you should just get lucky and scrape in at about 15 kph over the limit.
