So weather is getting colder and had to go and help someone with a flat battery. Opened the bonnet to be greeted with this.... What! How? and most of all Why!!
Yep, had that as well, have now one of those sound things (that only animals can hear) in the front area where the car is parked.
This is marder mating season. The males will bite/tear apart soft rubbery stuff in order to mark their territory--hood liners, brake lines, trash bags. I could hear them squealing outside my window last night, and this morning our trash bag (forgotten there because inexplicably the trash people never came yesterday) was full of claw marks.
Better check daily...they're up all night to get lucky.
In the new electric cars (EQS, EQE) from Mercedes Benz, you can't even pop the hood anymore.
It took me some time to understand what I was looking at in that picture in the OP. It has the appearance of a mummified sheep.
My garage discovered the same during a service at the beginning of this year and prepared photographs etc. for my insurance company.
That reminds me. I should check again to see if the martens have been back.
Did anyone else first read this thread title as "How often do you poop on your hood?"
Or was that just me?
