How to bring the furniture from IKEA and other places?

Hi All,

I am new to Zurich and I would like to know the details and contact numbers who can bring the furniture from IKEA to my apartment?

Any Packers and Movers kind of service providers available?

As I don't have valid driver's license, I can't rent a mini truck and drive the truck.

Thanks in advance for giving your suggestions.

Regards,

Satya

I believe IKEA does deliver. Otherwise, you could try searching this forum for "man with van." Maybe he could help.

If you know somebody with a driver's licence who could help you out, the truck hire offered by Ikea is a pretty good deal. Otherwise, search the Jobs wanted part of this forum -- e.g. for "Man with a van" or "Removals".

Happy to help. Sent you a PM with my details.

There are two options:

1) You can hire a VAN from Ikea itself. It is very cheap. Take someone who have a driving license with you. Also ask some of your friends to join you at your home to assemble all the furniture.

2) Ikea also delivers furniture. It is based on value of items purchased and it is also very reasonable. They also provide assembling service but it could be expensive.

Home Delivery Service

On request we can provide you the furnishings purchased home. The delivery of the goods shall be unassembled into your apartment. TARIFF ZONE 1 Until about 30 minutes from a furniture store, the cost is 12% of value of goods, a minimum of CHF 99 - CHF 500 at most -. TARIFF ZONE 2 With more than approximately 30 minutes by car from a furniture store, the cost 16% of value of goods, a minimum of CHF 99 - CHF 500 at most -. For traffic-free places special delivery requirements and rates apply. Our customer service will supply you with further information.

You can carry smaller items / packets on public transport. I have brought home a few Malm Commodes / dressers that way. I made it a point to choose the dull afternoon hours for the transport though - that way you have space, and do not end up disturbing other travelers.
