How to Find A Job, If I am A Filipino Who Recently Moved to Switzerland

Hi all! I am a filipino and just moved to Switzerland last April, 2017 for good. I used to work for a bank when I was in the Philippines. Any suggestions on how to find an English only jobs in Switzerland? My location is Sion, Valais. And I am currently learning french. I am aware that all jobs I find in the search engines requires French or German language.

I also verified my diploma from Swiss Universities and gave me certification that they recognize my diploma (BS degree in Commerce).

I need help! Thank you very much!

Is there a way I can find an English speaking job in Sion, Valais? Or any canton proximate by 1.5 hours travel time is okay. Thank you!!!

Have you tried looking online and filtering search criteria on a job search engine?

Do you have permission to work in Switzerland?

A banker, used to work for a bank for 10 years in my country.

Any administrative, back-office type of job will do.

I am on a permit B type resident.

I tried filtering "english jobs" in Valais but all I found are jobs requiring French/German language only. I hope to find my luck here. They say most english jobs are in Geneva.

My diploma was recognized and certified by Swiss Universities.

AngieCsy, please don’t post the same query in different parts of the forum, it only confuses things.

First question is what Swiss permit do you have if any? Until we know that, answers will be general at best.

Edit: Crossed with your post. Frankly, for admin/back office you’re going to need French or German depending on which part of the country you’re going to look for a job in. Concentrate on that first and get up to a good level of proficiency and then look for a job.

Have a look at Swissquote who are located in Gland, closer than Geneva, apart from French and German, much of the back office is in English because many of the foreign trading accounts being opened there are from anglophones.

Also double check that your permit allows you to work outside your canton.

I thought it's automatic once you get the permit B, you are allowed to work angwhere.

the way some want to expand to EU we might get there shortly....

Isn ́t there a remark on the non-EU credit card type of permit things whether it is tied or whether you are allowed to work?

Just checked mine. It says family member of an EU person with rights to work. It doesn't say more specifics than that. I don't know if OP's got the same set up as mine, but I live in Kt. Solothurn and work in Kt. Bern and have had no problems. Though I think that has more to do with the EU family part of the card...

Sion is not known for having large headquarters of banks.

In the french part (especially geneve ) is doesn't look too bright in the banking job sector.

How will you serve customers at a counter , when you are currently learning french ?

The banking sector is currently under modification to operate cheaper, so jobs will be transfered from zurich to Schaffhausen or Biel , to pay lower rents and lower wages aswell.

Good luck with the jobsearch (try to widen your search area , maybe there is something for you in the hotel industry, area Brig, Montreux ; Zermatt)

there are no regional limits related to work. B (and C) permit holders are free to work in the whole of Switzerland.

As she’s non-EU, is looking for a job and has a B permit I assume it’s a family reunification one. In which case as miniMia points out

" Access to the labour market
Regardless of their nationality, persons who come to Switzerland by virtue of family reunification have the right to seek employment anywhere in Switzerland and in the branch of their choice. They may also work in a self-employed capacity."

I checked it and it has no limitations. I could work anywhere in Switzerland.
