How to find 'housekeeper' in Vaud?

Hi, I'm looking to hire someone who could do house cleaning, groceries, cooking and take kids (10, 13) to their weekly activities by car. What is such a thing called in French and where does one look/find/post ads for such an engagement?

Thanks in advance.

People will often mention "jeune fille aupair" . This is a younger girl (but could be a boy) normally in the 15-18 year old range that comes from another linguistic area to learn French since you are in Vaud. They are more of a "mother's helper" in the North American context. They can only work a certain number of hours per week and must have time off to attend language classes. They live with the family so they are immersed in the language. Depending on their age, they may or may not be able to drive. There are strict legal limits and reponsibilites for the family linked to this term.

What you are looking for is an "employé(e) de maison" . This will be an older person (18+) who may or may not live with you (depending on the situation and the contract). They are able do more tasks and work longer hours (without going over +/- 42 hours per week).

Do your search on some of the "nanny websites" - some have been listed on pervious EF threads as well as the normal employment sites. Realise that you will pay much more for a EDM that for a JFAP. For a permit you will need to stay with CH or EU.

Thank you that's very helpful.

Are you even in CH?
