How to get better Eutelsat W2 signal

Hi

I have one of those Selfsat satelite reciever and I have problem recieving the signal from Eutelsat W2 16E that is strong enough. Signal quality is only around 30% and I get only few channels. Recieving Astra or HotBird signal is no problem (signal quality 94%), also Eutelsat W5 and W6 is also working. As I understand position of W2 is between Astra and Hotbird, so theroetically there should be no problem to have a good signal.

Does anyone have any explanation why W2 has such weak signal and any idea how to improve it.

Do you think that SAT Verstärker could help in any way.

Some of you will probably think that I should buy parabolic dish instead and problem solved, but in this case not possible (nowhere to mount it).

Tweak your current dish alignment so that it reduces the Astra/Hotbird signal but picks up more W2

If you are not using a parabolic dish, what are you using?

Hyperbolic?

Phased array of dipoles?

Circular-polarised yagi?

Microwave Discone? (shudder)

The only way I could suggest is to use a 'Professional Meter' which enables you to select individual satellites, and use this to fine tune the dish. If you don't know anyone locally with one of these, then call in a professional, but if you do this maybe find someone with experience of using these dishes (maybe ask the company you bought it from to recommend someone if they can't do it for you).
