How to get GA SBB free?

I'm looking for a way to get a free GA travel card or with a massive discount, so that it would cost me less than 2000 Fr.

Any suggestion?

For the sake of respect, please don't groan

Steal one and glue your photo over the existing one.

you realise this is SWITZERLAND, where they don't have a word for FREE or DISCOUNT

Steal 1700 CHF or so.

Unless you are 25 or under, in which case you only need to steal 601 CHF.

IIRC MTV Mobile where doing a special offer on GA's but of course you need to buy a subscription

Starting from now only travel by shank's pony, for each KM you travel put 1chf into your "Buy a GA" fund.

You'll appreciate your efforts when you have the GA.

Does anyone remember the thread about "Free Beer" many, many years ago?

There are things called partner GAs and family GAs. So if a family member has one or you live with somebody who has one, you might possibly qualify.

basically the first person pays full price, and every further person pays a progessively reduced price.

My first response to you were going to be : Are you sober?

Nevertheless, yes, there is. Some companies give their employees free GA cards as part of the package, so start applying.

newstudent , what's your major? Idiocy?

(for the record: no, I didn't groan...)

edit: TiMow was faster...

... but you did it nicer

If it was that easy, we'd all have GAs for less than 2K.

However, maybe look at it from a different perspective. Do you really need a full GA that covers pretty much all transport across the country? Maybe a regional GA would suit your needs better? A half-tax card is also something to consider, depending on how often you use transport.

You can also pay for the "full" GA in monthly installments, so it's not quite such a whack to the budget in one go. Look for the subscription option on the SBB website.

What is, regional GA?

The clue is in the words ..... and there is only one.

Get a job with Swisscom; they hand them out like sweets.

I'm not an expert since I just use a half-tax and I'm in Bern. I believe you can get a GA for just the Zürich transport system, for example. Even for certain zones. Here is the website for more info:

Just buy SBB and get a free ride for life.

Oh, wait

For instance, the Basel area has a regional card that covers the northwest corner of the country. All travel within this area is free. I then have a Halb tax card for when I travel out of the region.

I really can't believe you're groaning at the posts in this thread. It was a rather silly question

Or a job with the SBB.
