How to obtain birth certificate from India

Hi,

I need to get a "recent" (not more than 6 months old) birth certificate from India for my son who was born there because I would like to apply for Swiss citizenship for him.

Unfortunately I cannot spend time in India to do this, and there is no close family there, who could do this for me either.

Does anyone know of an agency who can procure the document for me? I have the original certificate so that should help matters.

Just to be clear, my question is about getting the certificate issued and not about attestation. I have located an agency who do the attestation part, but its just getting hold of the certificate which is seemingly impossible:-(

Thank you.

Not being aware of the Indian system but I assume every Indian lawyer should be able to do such.

what is the birth place of your son?

You might be able to get it online > http://crsorgi.gov.in/web/index.php/auth/login#

For other cases locate the municipality where your child is born, find a lawyer/ good Samaritan from social media (try Reddit India) and give them a letter of authority to collect the certificate on your behalf.

Dig up a lawyer from one of the the many 'yellowpages' of the city of birth. I got this done for my son. The guy charged me Rs1k - 50% advance (=risk)

HI, I need to do the same now. How did you manage this? Is there any agency which provides such services or somewhere you can apply online?

Many thanks

Deepika

Hello,
Also need the same now that I am finally applying for my Swiss citizenship . I got in touch with a company that goes by the name TTK services and is based out of Bangalore, the link to Your Man in India took me to their page. They are asking for an initial sum of 5,900Rs just to initiate a search which is fair. Upon success I will definitely be asked for more money(!) I am still trying to obtain more clarity on that. Has anyone used this company? Would appreciate any feedback and how much time the entire process took. Thanks
