How To write a letter to neighbours about Party in house

Hello all,

Only in this week we have got child noise complaint from old lady downstairs. Before answering the letter, i am worrying about birthday party on saturday evening. How to write a letter for all neighbours about this party, should i go in person to meet old lady(with not so good German)? Is there any format for such notices?

Looking forward for your recommendation..

We have noisy (kid noise) downstairs neighbours whom we've had to approach several nights so we can get some sleep.

I really appreciated it when the mom sent up some birthday baking and at the same time let us know she was having a birthday party - I felt respected and appreciated the notice.

I generally prefer face to face contact, even if it takes more courage, because that way you start to build a relationship with the neighbours.

Avoid an awkward contact situation, but tape a pack of these to her door, with the appropriate date and time written on the pack.

Yes, there is. It is called "invitation"...

Liebe Nachbarn,

xy

*) In case you want to invite them as well.

id attach that if its too loud that they could ) call number xyz or b) simply ring and let me know

And please don't write "jährt sich der Tag unserer Geburt", first off it's really cheesy and secondly if you're not twins or born on the same day, it's just wrong. Write down your number and kindly ask her to call you first before she calls the police. I would hang the letter in the hallway for all the neighbours to see and maybe put one seperately in her mailbox because you know she'll probably complain.

Someone did that in my apt block. Nonetheless it did not stop someone calling the police...

Thank you all for your suggestion. Finally party went out successfully !
