How unemployment insurance works in case of recent moves from the EU

Hello!

I currently live in an EU state and will be moving to Switzerland and start my new job there soon. Just for the sake of being informed and aware, I'd like to understand how the social unemployment insurance works overall. In particular, if that would possibly kick-in only after 12 months of employment work *in Switzerland*, or if also previous employment periods in any EU state would count for that?

If not, I guess it means that if someone coming from the EU would loose her/his job within the first 12 months since relocation in CH, s/he would NOT get unemployment benefits at all...?

Which would be quite of a risk to be well aware of, especially given the very high cost of living... and also that conversely any EU state would account for previous employment periods in states other than the one of current residency.

Your previous employment counts. Just the amount will be based on your salary in the last 12 or 24 months.

Ahhhh oke, I got a wrong info then. Also seemed to me a bit weird, but still possible given CH isn't part of the EU. Thanks for the info!

Yup I had checked this thank you, yet still had the doubt as they do not specifically mention on previous employment location... and as the website is all about CH one might have doubts beside possibly interpreting that as " no location is then all locations "
