I am looking for a birthday treat for my daughter and came across Husky rides in Bern. Has anyone ever done this? What was the experience like? Do you know if there are any more local to Zurich? All info greatly received.
They do husky rides in Flumserberg (go to www.flumserberg.ch i think). I didn't get chance to take my neice because they book up quickly and don't cram too many rides into one day but it sounded really good. You can do a short ride or a husky experience. Flumserberg is about an hour on the train from Zurich
I have done the husky dog sledding at flumserberg and it was a super enjoyable experience. I booked it through flumserberg but it is run by an outside company whose name I can't remember. This company also run activities in dissent is and a couple of other resorts I think. Wish I could remember their name Ctually! Anyway You do need to book quite far in advance but they also give availability in the flumserberg website. You arrive for 9.30 and get a briefing. Then you let the dogs out of their crates and tie them onto their waiting lines. You the. Go round to meet them all and learn a bit about the dogs, their personalities, who runs with who and why. You then learn about the sled and pick your team and put them onto the harnesses. You then go round the sledding track a few times, driving on your own, which is actually hilarious as so many fall offs and running dogs! When that is finished you then help tidy up, put the dogs away and finish with a hot drink. It is really interactive and lasts about 3 hours. We did it in dumping snow and were soaked but hardly noticed as it was so interetsing and we were always doing something. I would highly recommend it.
