I found Welch's Grape Soda and Big Red Soda!!

I first and foremost would like to apologize to all people actively trying to loose weight but I feel, that it's my responsibility and duty to show you my findings of all things cultured and thus, here it is: I found Welch's Sparkling Grape Soda and Big Red Soda at Marktkauf across the border from Basel. Cheers everyone!

!

Grape!

Somehow I missed that, I did get some Big Red when I was there last week with Angela, but didn't mention it, thinking that hubby and I are among very few who like it.

I also noticed they had Cherry Vanilla Dr. Pepper too, one of my favorites!

Yup, it was at the beginning of the same aisle where you found Big Red soda.

Creepy creepy children scared me off from ever buying Welch's.

Where can you find Mountain Dew for a reasonable cost in or near Basel? Crunchy peanut butter would be nice to find too!!!

I guess us Americans are just spoiled with all sorts of yummy foods and drinks that I just can not seem to find here in Basel.

Glenn.

Meet me at the corner of Main Street and Lafayette, there will be a white van. Say the code words "Do the Dew"....and I'll hook you up with anything you need...Twizzlers, Babe Ruths, Musketeers, Big Gulps, Double Gulps, Mountain Dew, Laffy Taffy's, Reese's Pieces, Butterfingers..you name it I got it.

Well, usually a "sure" place to find Mt. Dew is at Lolipop at Barfüsserplatz, I wouldn't call the price reasonable though, at 3.50chf per can. I used to get a couple of cans there as special treats for hubby and I.

I've seen some elsewhere more reasonably priced, I looked at Coop@Home and Migros Le Shop (online stores for Coop and Migros) which I tend to use as a more reliable indication of potential stock than going into any one store - and didn't find it there.

I want to say I've seen (and bought) Mt. Dew at the "...avec" shop just past Mr. Pickwick's and Starbucks on the way to Pathé.

You can get crunchy peanut butter at Coop and Migros in little jars (contains roughly 2 cups of pb) if you're okay with a generic sort of brand. (My favorite is Peter Pan, the Coop generic creamy pb does alright as a replacement and the crunchy does really well in pb cookies)

Otherwise you can get those goodies you mentioned and many more at some of the online "American" or "British" shops. Some folks like Britshop.ch , I usually find what I'm looking for from American Food Avenue . Another goodie, if you're looking for ingredients for Mexican or Tex-Mex is El Maiz .

Does anyone know if Big Red Soda and Welch's Grape Soda are currently still being sold at Marktkauf across from Basel?

Sorry, I've not been probably since I posted about it last so I can not say. It may be high time to head over and have a peek though.

Good idea

Was it upstairs or downstairs?

For the people who enjoy the finer things in life. I just came back from Marktkauf in Germany and brought me over a trunk full of Mountain Dew CODE RED Y'ALL!!!!!! In convenient 500ml bottles.

Oh man - I really should give you my number so you can hook a girl up as you pass through!

I don't know if this helps since it's in a different Kanton, but Garosch in Burgdorf, BE, has a big variety of sodas. They've got Welch's, Mt Dew, Dr Pepper, Sierra Mist, A&W and some other brands I can't remember. And they carry more than one flavour of most brands.

Hey American food detectives,

I'm looking for a delicious......

maple bar. Has anyone ever found one in Switzerland?

I found the original Louisiana Hot Sauce ( http://www.louisianapepper.com ) today at Edeka in Luttingen/Laufenburg.
