Identical konto nr. for two beneficiaries on orange payment slip

Hi, Does anybody know how the Konto number on orange payment slip works? Intuitively since it is an account number I would expect that it should be different per each beneficiary. However it doesn't seems to be work that way. Recently I received bills from a language school and a dentist that have identical Konto numbers Thanks!

They share the same Bank Branch, the reference no will be different.

For some banks (e.g. BLKB), they seem to have a single account number per branch. If you use a red payment slip (obsolete now?), they route any payments via the name of the beneficiary. For an orange one, it's as FMF says - they use the reference number.

For other banks, the accounts numbers are unique per customer account. I have some UBS accounts - each account has its own number.

Often they share the same bank branch as said. I have 3 regulars that all use the same UBS one. As also said, the reference numbers will be different and sometimes it will also say on the slip “UBS AG in favour of …” which also makes clear who that particular payment is meant for when the account number is the same.

The bank has one postal-account.

Under: "zu Gunsten von" there is either a bank-account number or a company or usually both.

Thanks a lot for explanation!
