Part 1
Around two months ago I order a fair amount of furniture from IKEA. The delivery and build day arrived and despite the guys turning up very late, the building was done. All except the sideboard. The issue was that the IKEA assistant in store had ordered the wrong size frames (INREDA shuhbladen rahmen 7cm, 901.812.23) for the draws, and they were way too small. The Montageservice guys basically said there was no point building them and that I should contact IKEA to swap the parts and rebuild with the correct parts (INREDA shuhbladen rahmen Gross, 901.057.19).
Part 2
I then contact IKEA to tell them the parts were too small and to please arrange redelivery. So after another 3 WEEK wait (seriously, 3 weeks) and numerous calls to chase them, I am finally contacted by the IKEA montage company for a new appointment to finish the sideboard. At this point I have already discussed two or three times on the phone the problem with the IKEA helpline, including last week to double-check things were ok, and they assure me they will bring the correct parts. The Montageservice person also tells me the same, they will bring the correct parts. Ok, fine.
Part 3
The Montageservice man arrives yesterday. So what do I find? HE BROUGHT NO PARTS AND COULD NOT FINISH THE SIDEBOARD. I asked him why he did not bring the right parts and he could not give me any normal answer, just that he had instructions to finish the sideboard. He then called his boss while standing next to me, and then hilariously the boss called IKEA and they told him I had the correct parts.
I then had to call customer service myself to get them to check the part numbers, and then they then confirmed, once more, that I DID indeed have the wrong parts, and they then gave me the correct part number, which I then gave to the man, who then said he would arrange another appointment in 2-3 weeks!
Summary:
Seriously, this is not rocket science. We are not splitting the atom here. It is one sideboard, built to a specific formula, that does not have the correct parts. Now, after over 1 months and numerous calls to IKEA, this is still not fixed.
When you pay for the convenience of delivery and Montageservice you kind of expect things like this to be taken care of in good time, and not having to wait for so long. I am even having to chase them through their Facebook page in order to try and get them to fix it this weekend.
Absolutely terrible service that I cannot recommend to anyone else, and I hope they at least give me some kind of compensation in the form of a nice voucher or something.
Anyone else had these kind of problems with IKEA?
Rich.
