IKEA recalls Kritter & Sniglar junior beds

The furniture chain Ikea is recalling thousands of children's beds, because of a design fault.

It follows seven reported cases of a metal rod breaking and exposing sharp edges.

The company warns that the rods could present a laceration hazard, although so far, there have been no reports of any injuries.

The beds involved are called Kritter and Sniglar, although only certain batches are affected.

Just checked our son's bed, and it is one of the affected beds. The article states that we can get a repair kit from our local Ikea. Does anyone know if we have to prove that we have one of these beds? Or can we just ask for a repair kit at the help desk?

The receipt for the bed is long gone, but we could take a picture of the bed and number.

Anyone else had to do this?

Thanks!

Maybe take a picture of the bed with you to IKEA, but I would not expect them to ask for proof.

I once stored a bed in my cellar for a year, and I am sure my nasty neighbour reached in and stole the screws! I went to IKEA and they gave me new screws, no charge!

Just a quick update (in case someone else finds this and is in a similar situation).

Took a photo of the bed and serial number, but it wasn't necessary. The people at IKEA never asked for proof, just gave us the new part.

Super easy!
