Importation Fees for Warranty Replacement

Hello all,

Looking for a bit of advice on an invoice I received from DPD for some importation fees.

Our baby stroller recently broke, and the manufacturer sent us a replacement part under warranty from Germany. It looks like they sent it with a value of around 60EUR.

It actually turned out to be the wrong part, so we don't need it, and the manufacturer is now going to send another part.

A few weeks after delivery I've received an invoice from DPD for the importation fees (and the usual admin fees which make up 80% of the total, of course)

I've been searching but can't find if there are any exceptions for warranty replacement parts - does anybody know if they exist? As the company will be sending another part soon, I want to inform them of any change to the declaration that will avoid this.

I've contacted DPD and will see what they say for the already-received-part. I've also contacted the supplier to tell them about the issue.

Thanks for any tips

Why would there be an exception for this? If you drove to Germany and bought it yourself you would be subject to importation costs.

As both the broken part and the replacement remain in Switzerland it’s logical that the costs apply. Perhaps if you exported the broken part ...

He didn’t buy it though, he was sent it for free as a replacement for a broken part.

IIRC there is a way to declare such things so as to avoid the import fees but clearly the sender didn’t do this.
