Importing household items after 11 year delay(!)

We moved to Switzerland in 2012 and moved most of our household good and furniture over using the standard customs duty exemption process .

A couple of years ago we sold our house in the UK and after clearing it out we decided there are a bunch more personal items (eg photos, framed pictures) plus some bigger items we wanted to keep, which initially went into storage.

Now I have arranged for a shipping company to bring these over from the UK for us, and they keep insisting I should complete form 18.44 for customs clearance. As the directives state that the duty free exemption only lasts for the initial relocation plus any follow-on items identified at that time, I can’t see how it applies.

Can anyone tell me if this is still the correct form to use, or should we follow a different process?

You do need to fill it in. We brought our things over last year after a 7 year delay. I had contacted the customs office directly beforehand and they said it had to be filled in and that they would decide once the shipment arrived how much, if any duties were applicable. They charged only a minimal amount for the inspection and no extra duties were incurred.

Thank you for such relevant info! I'll follow the instruction then.

I really doubt the import of used goods at least 10 years old is going to incur significant charges.

Agreed - but I just wasn't sure of the process.
