Anyone have a good experience with a BMW mechanic? I'll be needing one before long, and don't see the need to pay dealer prices if there is a good independent shop around. I'm in Zurich but they need not be immediately nearby. Thanks in advance!
My local guy does everything (even Ferrari), has very good prices and performs excellent work.
However, this is near Lugano.

Hmm... maybe if I feel like hanging out in Lugano while the car's in the shop. For a big enough job it might make sense. What's his name?
Roberto Umiker (speaks Italian and German, maybe other stuff). 079 337 3375

Grazie viel mal!
There is Cartek in Regensdorf. Karl, the guy who owns it used to work as a BMW mech before going solo. He did all the work on my old 520 when I had it, and he still does the work on my current car. Decent prices, good, friendly service. Speaks German and some english.
Chris
Thanks! Maybe I'll try him for my next oil service.
Hi Slim, Thsi guy in Regensdorf, when he services a BMW can he reset the computer messages as well?
Thx GT
Can anyone recommend a good independent BMW / Lexus / Subaru mechanic between Zurich and Rapperswil? Even a litte farther out towards Uster area is ok.
thx
Anwar
Hi Greenthumb
He used to reset the lights for the service interval on my 520 when I had it. He has equipment that reads the computers of various cars, as he also reads the messages for my Porsche.

Thanks for the tip. I just got my BMW serviced there this week. Karl was very straightforward about the work plan, and when he was done he showed me the old parts he'd replaced and what was wrong with them. He also explained why I didn't need some other work that I thought I did. Very nice guy, and seems to be a well-run shop, but full Swiss prices of course.
Do you get the service book BMW stamped?
Yes, he recorded the work and stamped the book, even though it was not a regular service.
Our beemer doesn't start as nicely as it used to need to have it checked in or around Lucerne. Any good mechanics? No dealers please.
I'm taking my X5 across the border to Konstanz next week- a BMW dealer I heard about who's half the price of the Zurich dealers. I'll let you know how it goes
can you pls give the BMW Konstanz address and contact details
Between Karl, won't speak English, I called him on phone but could not communicate becoz lack of my German speaking skills.
