You, as the parent, will have to apply for Indian citizenship for the newborn through the Indian Embassy.

The child wont receive Swiss citizenship at birth. You need to go to the Indian embassy with the relevant docs like the birth certificate.

Well, if your child is born here you most certainly won't get Swiss citizenship nor will your child. It is not automatic. It is a long process involving many years of stay in Switzerland and the last few years in the same canton.

Look you asked the last question 3 times in different threads now you are doing the same with these related threads... ask the question once and wait for a response, as all you are doing is cluttering the place and giving the mods work to merge threads.

1. 10 seconds of googling can sort that out for you.

2. If for whatever reason you hate google or don't like the idea of searching, then call up indian embassy and check out today's swiss newspapers.

3. Phrase your questions correctly. A person of Indian origin is different from being an Indian.

Hi,

I am also from India and I delivered the baby here in Oct 2010. You will not be entitled for Swiss citizenship neither your child. Even to get the birth certificate, there is a long process ( giving your and your wife's birth certificate and marriage certificate). But apart from all this here the treatment is good and you will know what is happening to your wife and the baby.

There are lot of threads discussed about how to get the birth certificate for the kid, the problems faced by the people, you can search and get the information needed.

All the Best.

In other words 'How can I get a free ride in Swiss (Switzerland) by having a kid?'

Groan at will, I have the world record I think!

It's not always about free citizenship,

Interesting article I read the other day,

http://www.reuters.com/article/idUSTRE6AO22120101125

But persons born outside of India to Indian parents (after 1992), are citizens of India, so it's not an issue in this case.

True, for Indians it is not an issue.

And India doesn't allow dual citizenship as an aside...

Biff do you have PMS, what's with the groans, unless you are an advocate of multiple posts on the same subject
