indoor attractions in switzerland

Hi, I would like to escape the cold of the mountains and looking for any indoor attractions for this weekend in Switzerland. Checked Google, but the main recommendations are glaciers or outdoor festivals.

Can anyone recommend any warm/indoor tourism attractions in and around Swiss or neighbouring places?

thanks..

AlpaMare indoor waterpark in Ppffafikon piffikon Pfafpfofikon near Zurich or any Spa resort ?

Wow, didnt know about this waterpark, its a great suggestion, thanks!

However I have my mom with me, and she's got arthritis, and cannot do sport activities, I would like to take her with me for some place less sporty this time.

But this waterpark is definitely for our future to-go list!

Swiss Tropical Gardens: http://www.papiliorama.ch/

AlpaMare has a 36degC Iodine spa/pool outside. Supposedly great for Arthritis.

Mum may also like the Zoo in Zurich and the many Art Galleries and Museums around. Perhaps a train journey across Switzerland to take in the many views. The day trips here are breathtaking.

We went to papillorama yesterday and it's a pleasant train ride plus only a short walk from the train station directly into the buildings...literally right at station...

The temperature indoors was a lovely 27 degrees with 90% humidity in the 'tropical house' and there is also a nocturnal house, and a rainforest house...

It was not too much walking to do in a day ( we spent only about 2-3 hours to see it all with three kids, we could have gone slower...) and plenty of places to just sit and relax and watch the animals...

I can also recommend the Zurich Zoo - and just going directly to the Masaola rainforest. You can park your car quite close to the zoo entrance (or take the tram) and maybe use a wheelchair to get around if walking is a big issue...more walking though than Papiliorama.

For something more simple, the botanic gardens in Zurich (near Hegibachplatz/Seefeld) have two tropical houses, and it's maybe 15 minutes slow walk from the carpark with decent paths for walking...and it's free!

Another free warm place is the 'StadtGartenerei' - it's a bit of a secret place - it's the city gardens, and it has a tropical house (tropfenhaus) and an orchid house - and it's warm and there are seats inside so you can just sit and soak up the warmth - It's something you can do in an hour, and it's very peaceful...

Short walk from Hubertus tram stop in Zurich...then come back into town somewhere for a coffee...nice casual day out...the sort my grandma could handle...

thats good to know..thanks...

Lots of info. Thanks a lot. I have decided on Papillorama..excellent suggestion as well..just one question to decide if I can go this afternoon, considering that it closes at around 5. How much time does it take to get round the place? Would 2 hours be enough?
