Infrared sauna in Zürich

Hi,

Looking for a place in Zurich where I can use an infrared sauna.

Any ideas?

Could try looking here maybe?

Hi,

Did you find any in Zurich? I know there is one in Zug in fitness park.

Lots of them have closed down due to the high skin cancer risk in using them.

Vanity over health?

You have no idea what you are talking about. The OP is looking for an infrared sauna, not a solarium using UV light.

Bottom line: An IR cabin is pretty cheap, so a lot of people build them in their homes. Most public saunas use the traditional ovens as this is something you can typically only find there... I don't know any place with an IR sauna in ZH.

Thanks for educating me. I stand corrected.

yeah, saunas are used to remove toxins from body.very good against food intolerances ... i saw you can buy portables ones that look like tents.. im surprised they are so hard to find...thanks for answering .

I just read up on this.

It's pseudo-science with no statistically meaningful data to back up these claims.

You may sweat out water but not 'toxins', whatever they are.

The Finns don't even believe IR saunas should be called saunas.

But getting hot and and then cooling down and repeating is meant to be really good for the health. It doesn't specifically boost the immune system but it does help and certainly gives you a feeling of well-being.

A long story short:

- a proper sauna needs an oven. These are VERY powerful and require a 380 Volt power supply. To put that cable from the street to your basement or bathroom is a major pain... and if you live in an appartment building probably not going to happen at all.

- an IR cabin needs 220 V and comes with a completely normal plug. It does not get half as hot as a normal sauna, around 30 C, but the direct IR light makes it feel much warmer.

I personally prefer the traditional one, but am probably buying myself an IR one. Not the tent one, but a proper wooden one. The toxin stuff is pseudo science, but the health benefits of them are not really debated anymore - you can also get different light sources with different properties depending on your needs.

P.S: I know people who have issues with the high heat of a normal sauna. For them is an IR one not a bad thing to try...

We've got a normal one - and a cold water tub. It's great on a cold winter evening except the kids always leave the sauna door open and flood the floor going 'deep sea diving' in the tub.

i gave 4 year to sciene who had no idea what they were doing. i decide to give a chance to pseudo-science and i feel 1000 better. i wish i would get those 4 years back. its about time tgey start collaborating. As for intelect versus intuition, they are both valuable ways to get info, just depends on situation. btw i have 10 years expirience makimg medical devices and i understand the validity but also the limitation.

to actually go back to the thread topic: woo.ch has infrared capsules in different cities.just booked one appointment.thanks to everyone that answered.

Here is the Local.ch listing of 6 results (search term Google or other is "infrarot sauna").

Woo.ch..... Nomen est omen?

We just installed an IR sauna in our seaside flat in Ostend, Belgium. Very happy with it. Just make sure the cabin is made of cedar wood as that wood gives you the lovely sauna aroma. The great thing is that you only need to switch it on and you can use it 3 minutes later. A traditional sauna needs a lot more time to heat which means you will not use it that frequently. The fact that you can change the heat in an IR sauna more or less by turning a button is great. And you sweat just as much as in a traditional sauna.

Can you recommend a portable one? i rent so i have no room for a wooden one.thanks!

i saw some for 150chf... and i pay 60 per session at the salon.

You mean something like this? https://www.amazon.de/newgen-medical...dp/B016UR8SVE/

looks like junk to me.

Got space for this? https://www.amazon.de/newgen-medical...a/dp/B018KO1CQ

It also uses a lot more energy in both heating up, and in use.

All these 'health' spa-type things together use so much water and electricity.
