I must admit that I find most Swiss German TV quite boring. However, I have recently come across a fun reality show which I find to be a very good way of "tuning my ear" to Swiss German called "Bumann der Restauranttester". Basically the idea is that a top Swiss Chef visits various restaurants and "Beiz" around Switzerland and points out how they can improve their business. You can watch the show on YouTube at https://www.youtube.com/playlist?lis...kGGbBWINLux4cl
This show is much more fun than watching political debates, also the Swiss German spoken is what you will hear every day and at normal speed (i.e. quite faster than most shows on SF)
Looks like a great summer series to kill some brain cells while drinking panaché in the heat. Thanks for the tip.
Any idea about the accent the announcer has? It seems pretty generic.
Initially I misread your post as BuRman der Restauranttester. O, that would be great. The Dorfalkoholiker from some nowhere one-cow Dorf sent to St. Moritz and Zürich to review the Michelin-starred rösti... Now that would be a series!
I think it's predated by a similar German show called "Rach, der Restauranttester" https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Der_Restauranttester - which, the wikipedia page informs me, is the German incarnation of a British TV show "Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares".
As you can see from the wiki-page, the long-term track record isn't really great and if nothing else is, this should be an eye-opener to anyone thinking about opening a restaurant....
As most Swiss People in German speaking Switzerland regard Swiss German TV as quite boring you apparently are now exceedingly well assimilated (verschweizert)
Buhmann does his best to get angry Gordon Ramsey style but the hosts just reply "Merci viel viel Mal!". You can definitely learn a lot about Swiss manners and temperament from this show.
