Great ... I just found this after I subscribed to the IHT.
That was a far from streamlined process ;
1. The required Direct Debit Authorization form (.pdf) couldn't be downloaded from the IHT site due to some mysterious error.
2. After having my bank had filled out the form, bank sent the form to the address on the form, in the Netherlands.
3. After a week or so, still no IHT delivery, a call centre in Hong Kong tells me that "shouldn't send that form to Netherlands, there is a huge delay, will take at least one month in NL to process it, if you're lucky, better send the form to us in Hong Kong" ?! Have asked my bank to send me a copy of the signed form, will scan that so can send it electronically anywehere.
4. Story to be continued...
And if you subscribe for a year, you can earn 15,000 Swiss/Lufthansa 'Miles & More' miles:

The IHT is THE best newspaper I have ever read and is one of the great rewasons for living in Switzerland! I highly recommend getting this Zeitung!
It is a good paper, but you really don't have to live in Switzerland to get it. It is available all over the world. I had it delivered to my doorstep every morning in Yokohama, Japan.
I'm curious as to how early the IHT is delivered each morning in the Zurich area. Does anyone with a current subscription have any insight to offer?
@ Keandro: I'm not sure if the 15'000 Miles with Miles&More offer is still valid. Now the offer with 1-year subscription is 12 months Time Magazine for free.
@Chiguy: as soon as my subscription starts, I'll find out and let you know. I presume it's really early morning delivery, as the newspaper is printed in Switzerland and hand-delivered (ie not by the post man).
>> Can confirm that the Miles&More offer is still valid, if you quote promotion code "LUFT" to the IHT, and even better the offer is for 20'000 miles (12 month subscription for CHF624, paid via credit card).
I think I have seen people on motorbikes hauling a small trailer, like the Post. I will need to double check, though.

Any feedback on delivery times now that your subscriptions have started?
delivery times in Bern differ quite a bit, some morning the paper was delivered before I left for work (6.30) and some days not. Some days it wasnt delivered until after 9am.

Hi, after reading the OP's post I subcribed for the one month free trial offer. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND IT. I had to complain three times for the paper to finally arrive. The first week I received it with the early morning delivery. The second week it came in the evenings, the third week, I got two papers every alternate day and the fourth week, no paper at all....I've given up calling the IHT office and sending emails. I can just say their delivery service sucks...
The IHT is/has been delivered every single day at or before 6AM in the morning. Never missed a single day - very happy with it. Also very easy to suspend the subscription (by telephone), eg when you go on holiday or away.
It's a great newspaper to read all about the financial crisis and the elections in particular. There are quite some facts, columns and insights/perspective which you'll be hard to find in any Swiss or other European newspaper.
Sorry to hear of your experience. I took the one month free sub and received it every day, without fail, before 7am. I love the paper and cannot complain about my service in Zurich. I am traveling for over a month and then will do a paid 6 month subscription.

ies ...
that makes it a good reason to live in about 40 different countries other than CH ..
lol dino
I'm happy to pay the 4 CHF every day to read it. Outstanding paper.
Have a question:
When you sign-up, are you locking into a contract? Or, is this a free 4 week trial?
Thanks
Yes, I would like to know too. The website is not very clear about it. Is it really a 4 weeks trial without engagement?
Has anyone got an opinion about the "New Format" International Herald Tribune which began today in Switzerland?
I personally do not like it. I found it very hard to concentrate on the text (new font).
Maybe it will grow on me?
I was just thinking of making a subscription, but i think I will wait a few more weeks and see if it is just teething troubles. Will be interested in the response in tomorrows "Letters and views"
I tried looking for the trial month as well without success.
I would guess that the offer's been withdrawn sometime in the intervening 2.5 years since the info was posted
