I would like some information on the schools in Lugano. We were intially just looking at TASIS but also thought about the International School in Ticino. Can anyone give me any insights on these?
Hello, we are planning to move to Lugano and because of travel restrictions from our country we are not able to visit to finalise things as we would have liked to.
I know both schools, and both are very good and both teach the IB, though TASIS has a much better campus and facilities, however it is also twice the price. Both have a good reputation and IST have several teachers who came from TASIS. IST is also much younger than TASIS and a bit less "American".
It also depends on where you intend to live. TASIS is in Montagnola and IST is in Cadempino, near Vezia. To a certain extent Vezia is more accessible if you don't live near TASIS, but I suggest you try visiting both before you enroll your children.
If you're unable to visit due to restrictions, my personal choice would be IST and I'd suggest enrolling there. You can also arrange an interview using a face to face application such as WhatsApp with both of them.
If you let me know where about you plan to live, I can give you a better idea of travel time etc.

IST (Cadempino) is far closer than TASIS (Collina d'Oro).

porza is a great choice (for a number of reasons). pretty negative on tasis. and its a difficult location from porza. i'm fairly down on most schools in lugano. IST would probably be my choice but its not a good location for me.
