Does anyone know of any resources for low cost last minute travel, preferably airline?

A friend has invited me to Berlin the weekend of Aug. 6, but $400/CH326 seems a bit steep to me for an 80 minute flight. Train is costing about the same, but takes 9-11 hours.

Thanks in advance for any advice you have!

I guess it's with Air Berlin. It actually sounds reasonable for a short trip (weekend) in the height of summer.

You could check out if Swiss or Lufthansa has anything cheaper.

Or you could look at lastminute.com or ebookers.com for example. Budget airlines tend to charge more during peak travel periods and you are travelling bang in the middle of school holidays, unfortunately. I bet if you booked the flight in the middle of September it would be a few CHFs cheaper!

PS it would be polite to introduce yourself to the community here on EF before asking us to pick our brains for you... Just sayin'

See if the TGV or CityNightLine go to Berlin????? TGV to Paris from Basel is 33chf. And the CityNightLine, for a sleeper room (Its an overnight train) is about 300chf.....

Lately I have found better deals going directly on the Swiss.ch, slEasyJet, and Air Berlin websites...

If push comes to shove it costs about 20euros to carpool

If you book on a train that no one else has yet to book on, 3 months in advance. The chances of you getting a return even for under 100CHF are low. In August it's not possible.

Have you asked your local travel agent? They have access to cheap tickets too.
