I've looked everywhere for it and can't find a thing. He also tried to tell me that there is a rule that people signed off sick aren't allowed out after 10pm. That's certainly news to me too!
If he does find the law I broke, I'll post it here to make sure everybody is aware that they can get into deep trouble even when they don't know they're doing anything wrong.
As for the colleague........what can I say? Really nice chap
That's a cheery thought. It has crossed my mind too.
I know the rules regarding signing the letter.
My relationship with my boss is excellent, and my co-workers. It's just one colleague who decided to go out of his way to bring this up to my boss and make trouble.
I've been in this job for ten years. I have no illusions about forcing the company to do anything.
Even if it is perfectly legal, if the insurance is fine with it, if the doctor backs you up and your boss don't get angry, it might dammage your reputation. There are a lot of irrational beliefs around about having to work unless you're half dead, so this can backfire at any time in the future. People may stay silent for now, but they will remember it for ever. They might not ever use it against you, or they might. It will depend on their interests, not yours.
