Internet + Cell Phone + Tv combination?

Hi!

I'm gonna arrive in Switzerland (Luzern) to stablish permanently, and would like to know what's the best combination to get internet both for home and my cell phone

My user profile is like so:

- I do very few calls, generally just use internet. I usually never go over 1gb/month of cell phone internet usage

- I like fast internet but aren't a speed freak, I'm currently happy with a 12mb adsl line

- I don't know currently pay for TV, maybe the standard channels will be fine, but in the future, who knows. For now not a big req, but just to consider

Basically, just wanted to know what's the best for my profile based on contract costs. Could be different companies or same (maybe there's some promotion for one company where it's best to get both internet for home and for the phone, who knows)

Thanks in advance!

Hello,

As far as I know, the only mobile telephony operators that also offer TV services would be Sunrise and Swisscom. You can find their offers online:

http://www1.sunrise.ch/index-Sunrise...en_CH-CHF.html ?

http://www.swisscom.ch/en/residential.html

For TV, home internet and landline telephone packages you can also try cablecom:

http://www.upc-cablecom.ch/en/

And the other big mobile telephony operator from Switzerland (does not offer home internet or TV) is orange:

http://www.orange.ch/

Hope this helps

Or you can use the comparis website to compare offers from several operators:

www.comparis.ch

all of them are offering unlimited or some kind of call plan. I really don't care about those calls, and wouldn't want to pay for something I won't use

Isn't there any company which focuses only on internet with wider ranges of plans?ç

[Edit]: I think I found something, on Sunrise's website there's a "sunrise free" plan that for 19CHF per month I can get 1gb of monthly surfing

That seems like a good deal (if the network reception is ok)

I am also in the process of re-evaluating my internet/phone connections. What looks interesting at the moment is ewl [1]. They have been laying fibre throughout town and for 39,- you can now get a 10 MBit symmetrical connection. They have also set up a wifi network [2] around town onto which you can register 1 device (by MAC address), and therefore whilst in town you will not need a cell phone data connection.

As there is only limited need now in Luzern for mobile internet I have switched to a pre-paid account with Swisscom. I too rarely make calls, and mostly use wifi on the phone when at home or in the office. So I use the Natel easy data package [3] which charges you 9,- for 100 MB of data. As I'm using a couple of hundred max a month, it's a lot cheaper than the 49,- a month I was paying for a contract before.

At home I am then using Overplay's SmartDNS [4] so that I can stream netflix, and the BBC iPlayer. It almost means I can cancel my cablecom TV contract, but I still want a couple of live sporting events...

Good luck with your choices and welcome to Luzern
