Internet socket in my new apartment

Hello,

I have just moved to a new apartment and according to the SwissCom (or any other major ISP) website I am covered by 10Gb/s fiber at my address. So far so good. The problem is that looking around the house, I can’t find any fiber or even ethernet plug and no signs of the OTO number that is required by these companies.

The only unusual plug I could find is this one (attached) but searching online it seems to be for television and definitely not fiber. Or am I missing something?

Otherwise it seems some ISPs could install the fiber socket for free as long as the address is covered by them. Has anyone tried to do that?

Thanks!

It's possible that the fiber arrives in the street but not into the apartment.

In this case one could contact the companies and ask a quote to bring the fiber inside. The landlord should be informed.

Just order fiber at provider you want, they will come and install it - usually for free!

That is a relatively old telephone socket. The second likely for fax.

I had the same problem when it came time to install fiber into my apartment. I told the company that I needed the install, they wouldn't schedule me an appointment because some computer system somewhere said that I didn't and got indignant with me that I wouldn't send them the OTO number. In the end, I had to have my landlord write a letter to confirm that I was right . Just call the customer service line and explain that no port exists in your apartment however much the company believes otherwise and see what their process is.
