It looks like Siri will be getting a major overhaul in iOS 6. Among a lot of functional improvements, Siri has also learned a few new languages...including Swiss-German.
It's unclear if they are referring to written Swiss standard german or the actual spoken dialect.
It sounds strange that they put in the time to program Siri for a language that is so un-standardized that even if they pull it off, it won't understand all dialects. Also strange that they would prioritize that and still not have support for some of the worlds most spoken languages Hindi (4), Arabic (5), Bengali (6), Portugeeze (7), Russian (8).....etc
What's Swiss-German for "Sorry, I can only look for businesses, maps and traffic in the United States and when you're using US English. Sorry about that."?
Some nice features. I'm especially looking forward to "Stalk Your Friends".
since i see mandarin for taiwan, cantonese for HK and mandarin/cantonese for china, i think they mean the countries and not the languages.
this indicates that "Italian, Swiss French, and Swiss German" with a swiss flag next to it probably means that it will be available in switzerland. nothing more
but it still raises the question why they didn't write "swiss italian". weird
