iPhone stolen...

So either stolen or lost my iPhone yesterday..crappy situation.

Called the mobile company and had the sim blocked, went to the police and reported it. The phone was already low on battery so it is shut now and is password protected. Hopefully it is found soon, had a bunch of pics on it that I recently took at an event, sucks that I have lost all of them.

Any other steps I should take in the mean time to locate the phone? Any app or locating way? Go to the Apple store? Would they be able to help?

So is it lost or is it stolen surely you know the difference however it aooeqrs ou cant find it so auto assumption of theft

Not necessarily - it could have fallen out of a pocket, of have been purposely removed.

OP: there is a 'Find my iPhone' app., but If you don't have it already, I don't think there's much you can do retrospectively.

I was sitting on a bench waiting for the train, had it in my jacket and there were people sitting next to me, was not paying attention to who was there. Got in, and after some time noticed it was not there, so either it fell out, or some one took it. I went back there 20 min later and looked all around it it dropped nearby some where, but no luck. Assuming taken, hopefully by a some one who will drop it off at the police station.

There is a find my phone app that you can get from the app store on a different apple device, but I'd imagine your phone would have to have some battery life to make it work. Probably a question for the apple store.

You should have linked your gallery folder to your Dropbox or iCloud account, once linked dropbox offers the ability to automatically upload photos and video over WiFi and cellular data. The app uploads the photos to a new folder in the cloud storage service. And don’t worry about duplicates. The app is smart enough to know which photos were already uploaded to Dropbox.

And to syc your contact, you can use iCloud. It is seamlessly integrated into your apps, so you can access your content on all your devices.

Dear all,

after Street Parade my phone was stolen, yesterday it was shortly visible in Czech Republic and now it is gone. Is it possible to get it back? For now I didn't announce it on the Police, does it make sense at all if it is out of Switzerland? Could they track it via IMEI number?

Thanks in advance

always worth reporting just in case it finds its way back into the country, you never know! Also for insurance purposes if you insured it you will need the report.

For the original post i don't think there is anything more you can do unfortunately. but for future get the 'phone finder' app! Also i thought you could lock your sim to the phone but maybe im wrong...?

Unfortunately it wasn't insured So if they are not able to track it out of Switzeland it doesnt' make sens.

At least I heard that in iOS 7 should be changed function of Find My iPhone. It should be connected with your user account and it wouldn't be possible to change with reset.

Are you sure? Phone theft is covered by your "Hausratsversicherung" (which you surely have, as it's compulsory for pretty much every rental agreement here). You don't need special phone insurance (only if you also want accidental damage cover). There's a deductible of 200 Fr. or so normally but that's much less than what a new iPhone will cost you.

I doub you have insurance unknown to yousself as they make it pretty clear that its an add on to your bill. On my last contract I has no insurance. . . it wasnt an issue.

Now I have my contract renewed & a new phone I opted for insurance as it turns out I practically throw my phone across the concrete hangar floor on a fairly regular basis.

I am the definition of "Butter Fingers"

Again, theft insurance is part or your Hausratsversicherung (= home insurance). The additional insurance policy they try to sell you when you buy a phone is for accidental damage etc. So if he gets his phone stolen, he can file a claim with his home insurance and they'll pay. Had to do that twice over the last 15 years.
