Is a visit to Aletsch Glacier in winter possible?

Hey guys,

I read somwhere in the forum that said Aletsch Glacier ist one of the must-sees in Switzerland. Am just wondering if the hiking activities around Egglishorn, Fiesch etc to see the Aletsch suitable for winter weather like now?

Thanks for your feedback...

I used google to search for

But it only runs June to October. Sorry.

This sledge run looks interesting too.

I went there for a 3 day hike last summer. Definitely a must see.

But I don't think it is safe to hike during winter as it becomes very slippery and inaccessible once you go deep into the woods.

In winter ski touring or snow shoeing only!

As everything is covered in snow in winter you won't get a proper feeling for the glacier itself anyway.

You can certainly go ski touring on the glacier though I think that it would be better in March-April for the weather, length of daylight and the crevasses should be more filled in. I haven't been there but I hear there are routes that would be suitable for a strong-intermediate skier with enough stamina to last a long day out. Plenty of more difficult routes to take as well.
