I’m trying to decided between joining Triathlon U.K. or Swiss Triathlon.
The British Tri licence includes insurance (only for U.K. residents) and discounts on kit. Are there any benefits with the Swiss Licence? Or it it solely a race licence?
Cheers
Not sure on British prices, but make sure that you are going to be doing enough races to justify buying the licence. If you aren't a member of a Swiss triathlon club it's CHF 165 per year. That's a reasonable number of day licences. E.g. Raperswil 70.3 is CHF 42.50. Uster Olympic is CHF 32.50. I don't think I'll do any other races this year which will need a licence, so am just going to go with day passes, as I'm no longer a member of a triathlon club.
AFAIK the Swiss one is just to be able to take part. No added benefits.
What's the point of the license? Is it just a way to take your money? I'm surprised there isn't yet a drinking water license, or breathing license.
I’m doing a 5150 in Italy. I need a licence, or I have to buy a day licence which involves getting a medical certificate from an Italian Dr. Easier to get a British or Swiss year licence.
The point of the licence, as for any licence, is that it can be withdrawn if you break any of the rules, in this case relating to racing rules and doping.
if that's the reason, it would be easier to create a ban list.
If that was true they'd do it for things like driving licences and gun licences as well.
Do you have to pay to stay on the ban list?
they could probably make money to have you pay to leave the ban list
erm. no.
those are to prevent access to things that are dangerous.
and if you start killing people, you don't just get the license removed, you go to jail.
