Is anyone missing a Parrot?

Just wondering cause I just walked into my washroom and found this:

*Also caught him using my toothbrush. Budgie I know, look at the tags.

It's not a parrot, it's a budgie (budgerigar).

I hope you find his/her owner soon.

Oh so cute!

Good luck with your search and .. maybe wash your toothbrush

Take a photo, print two copies, stick them onto Migros & Coop small advert cards. Ask for a reward to cover cost of bird seed.

Plz hold on to him/her! Don't let her get away. You'll need to get a cage. Keep the door of the bathroom closed until you can get it a cage. The poor thing.... It's clearly a domestic one.

Where the heck do I get a cage? It's still in the washroom. Every time I walk in it flies at me. I literally have nothing to box it in. Hmmmmm, shiza, yeah nothing. I'll still look around.

You can get them at a pet store or a bigger DIY store. Hornbach will probably have one. The other thing you could do is call the closest vets offices. They might actually be able to come and get him/her.

S/he's very cute.

Parrot? ..... ha! - looks more like Adam Faith to me (he had sensitive teeth too, and used Colgate with Budgie Guard)

Ohh, it looks just like Charlie! We always had a budgie at home, for years and years and years, even after the original Charlie became a "Non Budgie", we always had a Charlie.

Ask your close by neighbours if they are missing their Charlie, domestic budgies usually don't fly very far from the roost, and someone is definitely frantically looking for him/her, you will know them for the frazzled look on their face

Someone opened up the window as it is so nice and warm today, so I bet the chances of finding them are pretty good as they must be at home and will certainly have realised Charlie got out...

Good luck reuniting Charlie to his/her people again.

Okay so I brought over a neighbor and we've closed the window and gave it some food and water which it took to immediately. Now she's calling local animal places to see if anyone could lend a cage or something, or at least give some advice.

Thanks all!

Take more pictures!!

cheers

SC

looks to me like he's pining.... wait for it..... for the fjords.

its a female.. - EDIT: wooops actually looking at the larger picture its dark blue so prob male

for the OP if its flying at you then just stand still, maybe its very used to being with people and sitting on the shoulder. Dont panic.

Maybe you dont need a cage for the moment... try this put your hand flat and put it near the bird, if it jumps on and it happy to sit there when outside the bathroom then I would just put a paper on a book shelf etc and put the bird there together with the water and food.

Just an FYI to the OP - and anyone reading this thread now or in the future - if one finds a pet animal - be it a bird, or a dog*, cat, reptile, bunny, hamster, etc. one is required to report that the animal has been found. The law is Art. 720a of the ZGB. http://www.admin.ch/ch/d/sr/210/a720a.html

You can file a report via the Tierdatenbank:

http://www.tierdatenbank.ch/cms/tier.../gefunden.html

Or contact the cantonal Meldstelle directly:

http://www.tierdatenbank.ch/cms/adre...indeltier.html

Or via the STMZ:

http://www.stmz.ch/de/

You can read all about your obligations as the finder on the Tier Im Recht website:

http://www.tierimrecht.org/de/lexiko...ndeltiere.html

Hope the bird finds his owner soon.

*All dogs are chipped, so a found dog should also be reported to ANIS, and taken to the nearest vet to be scanned.

LOL ok, sometimes I find a strange woman in the mirror in my bathroom, especially in the morning, but that's nothing compared to what you have found! I guess you can keep him in the bathroom for a day or two, and hopefully he can go back to his owners soon.

btw is he tame?

is it a norwegian blue?

I'd be moving my tooth brushes somewhere a little bit safer for the meantime if I was you.

Update*

Okay, sigh* I am beat. I've been stressing about the arme guy all day. Basically, we called all the animal shelters/tierspitals and likewise in Bern and we were referred to call Old folk homes. Called them and found someone who'd take the guy if no one would collect him as the animal places wouldn't take him.

Then a friend and I went around Bern to see if we could find a bird cage to keep him in. We searched every antiques store, coop, Loeb, the zoo place bei Koniz and couldn't find anything affordable (Less than $180, we are students...).

So the neighbor spoke with their parents and one of them happened to have a cage. Came home and found the little guy sleeping in my roommates shirt, that he'd also taken a dump in . (Shirt is about to go into the wash before he comes home) The little guy is currently in a box, stuffed with some of my soft pants, on a train to a city nearby to stay until we find someone.

Next thing, once my roommate comes home we'll type out a Lost and Found poster and start billing it all over our area + the local and central Migros. I had a walk outside our building and could find no open windows in our block but we have another area nearby that I couldn't check. He had no ring on his feet to identify him.

If no one comes to pick him up, we have someone who sounds nice and has had bird before willing to take him or if we decide to pitch together and get a cage between our apartment and our neighbors. ( I having kept birds before and them as well.)

So there is finally a lull in the action, which leaves me time to wash the washroom and clothes.

Will update what happens next in this epic saga as soon as there is development.

To think, this morning I thought I was going to have a relaxing day. Instead a bird flew into my life!

I need a beer.

Picture of the guy on a cup, and the poorly written scrabbled note I left for my roommates when I was out.

Aw cute! I'll buy you beer next time I'm in Bern!

Did you try the brocki for a cage? Or ask the vet to lend you one? 180 sound alot.

Good work!

Glad you are going out of your way to help this bird, kngavl. Good on ya!

Forgive me for sounding like a broken record, but have you filed an official report yet? This is important, as an owner of a lost pet would likely first go to the cantonal Meldstelle or one of the sites above to look for his/her pet.

Wishing the little guy a swift reunion with his people.
