Is the Consumption of Dog Meat Legal in Switzerland?

In Korea they eat dog. If im in Korea and someone offers me some i will eat it. Why not? I always like to try different things

Plus horse meat is delicious. Yiam yiam! And its sold everywhere in Switzerland which i assume you admit is a civilized country

Your tenuous grasp of English is making an argument with you somewhat difficult, but again, horse is commonly eaten in western European countries which you refer to as civilized, while you suggest that people in "Europe" have a special relationship with horses. Assuming you're not referring to Catherine the Great, you're clearly wrong.

I said that I can't imagine that people are eating horses in civilized, developped countries like Switzerland or France for example, I didn't say that people are not eating horse meat in Switzerland, I know that.

makeupartist.

the people who have pigs as pets (in western countries) think of you as completely barbaric and uncivilised for eating pork.

you mention movies, but movies like Babe glorify pigs as pets, in the western culture...

never forget that the coin has 2 sides.

noo one is trying to convince you to start eating dog. no one is even trying to convince you to like the practice. we are just preaching open-mindedness my friend...

So basically what you are saying is that you cant imagine anyone eating horse meat in Switzerland but on the same time you know they do. Right?

Are you always open minded? Are you a perfect? Men in Pakinstan marry 13 years old girls. Do I have to be open minded about that also?

i DON'T UNDERSTAND WHAT'S NOT CLEAR IN WHAT I WROTE

Well we didnt understand what you mean so we try to figure it out. Maybe you can repeat what you said but maybe rephrase it a bit?

I said that I can't imagine how people leaving in a modern country like Switzerland can eat horses, dogs or cats, but I know they do.

Nothing wrong with that. If you can eat a cow, then you can eat horses, cats and dogs as well.

You dont have to imagine, it is reality and it happens in many countries that are classed as civilised. You should check your typing as there is a difference between leaving a civilised country and living in a civilised country

Much clearer now

Well the answer is because its tasty and they like it. Its just a matter of personal choice really. There is nothing more to it.

Cannibalism!!! Hah. People in many European countries, including this one, eat horse meat.

Cannibalism. Gosh.

Why not rabbits? Chickens? Is it only certain animals that you randomly decided are actually humans in disguise and shouldn't be eaten?

Cannibalism!! Dogs and cats! *sigh*

Oh, wait, it gets worse.

So, because some people in a different continent have certain random animals as pets, they should learn this and stop eating them? You know, I've always found dog and cat lovers a bit weird at the best of times (yeah,I know, lack of empathy); you really don't help their case.

Oh, wait! Edited for even more excitement ...

What's that got to do with the price of fish? Poor little under-plastic-bridge-swimming fish. After marrying them, do they eat them?

Eat dog meat? You must be barking mad!!! Seriously, people throughout the ages have eaten any meat that was avaiable to them be it cat, dog or whatever. personally I will try anything. I always have fun at home when I cook various meats such as horse, ostrich, wild boar, bison, emu etc and then when we have finished eating I tell the family what they have eaten they are not too happy even though they really enjoyed the food

"Speak louder, darling. They can't understand you."

Ignore them makeUpartist, there are a lot of ignorant people on this forum

I worked with a guy here who does eat dog meat. Strays or ones people give him.

On another note I saw this t-shirt it was meant to be funny and not for switzerland, but it said "I love cats and dogs - just can't eat one by myself"

Saw it in Arkansas this summer in a store front window.. it was meant as a joke.

And in Italy, France, etc.

Had some tonight, last night, and Saturday.

Donkey's good, too.

And while we have pet rabbits, we do eat rabbit, just not our pets, as caviar would be cheaper!

Tom

Why NOT?

Animals are animals, and farmed animals are farmed animals. We are NOT talking about vanishing wild species here!

Either one eats meat, or not.

Tom

I love horse meat and people love me cooking it..... They call me the galloping gourmet!
