Definitely some other countries could use some F-35s and it’s so hard to get them. Sell them to others, it’s a win-win situation. They’re a “luxury” most probably Switzerland doesn’t really need.
It’s really funny when people projects their own values and culture to others. The contract will be honored…I’m still laughing.
I was a dumb young adult once too. Luckily, living far from home, traveling, and meeting different people and cultures cured me from this ![]()
And one that was a tad ignorant about history too? ![]()
I can imagine many voters will feel that is exactly what we need although I agree that drones should be a priority.
Switzerland and Ireland for that matter, have a very unique set of politics in which they split how they want the country governed from whom they want to govern the it.
So while you’ll find conservatives in both countries will agree with some of what Trump has to say, they would never vote for a Trump like character. If is very hard to convince people who are accustomed to make the big decisions for their country that they somehow need you to do it for them, a little voice their heads keeps saying: ‘I’m the only one entitled to make those decisions’.
There was an Irish American business man who tried to run the Trump play book in Ireland and it did not go well it was clear he did not understand the role of an Irish president and the voters don’t tolerate fools gladly so he became a bit of joke for everyone.
Trump was once a bit of a joke. He still is in fact.
The SVP is sort of cut from a similar cloth as the UK’s Reform Party, led by Nigel Farage. In recent weeks, Reform supporters have been speaking out against the Trump narrative and have been pretty critical of Farage and all the time he was spending in the US simping after Trump and Musk.
I think that level of right wing extremism which is bordering on authoritarianism is a bit much even for the harder right parties in Europe. Obviously there will be a hardcore of nutters who love all that stuff but I don’t think it’s widely embraced by any means.
Not sure about being pro Trump but on another thread today, SVP Nationalrat member, Andreas Glarner does not mention Trump but if his X posts are a reflection of his views then Trump’s probably a little left-field for him and he’s more extreme than that.
His posts and retweets could have been made by Elon as anti-mask, two gender, anti muslim, anti-immigrant, pro-Vance, pro-Elon.
With his hate-inciting agenda he would have been thrown out of the UK government.
