I am an Indian married to a Swiss, soon i will be in Switzerland and have to start searching jobs.
I have been working in the field of IT as a Business Intelligence and Data warehousing consultant having a total experience of 6 years (2 years in India, 1 year in Singapore and 3 years in the UK). I can not speak the local languages of Switzerland i.e. German, french etc.. but i am learning bits of German from my wife and have been taking beginners lessons.

Just wanted to understand how the job markets and opportunities are like in Switzerland especially in and around Zurich. Can anyone in similar field give me an idea or estimate of the salary I should expect based on my years of work experience and skill sets.
The salary estimation is quite difficult, as it depends of a lot of things:
- Your age
- Qualification level
- Level of responsability in your new job
- Size of the company you are working for
- ...
That said, I would say: 6'000 Chf to 7'000 Chf, and even more depending of your level of responsability / qualification level... Also, the best think is to try "salarium" (link above) by yourself, this would give you a more accurate estimation
Big Data is the next Big Thing (or so it seems from media and conferences.
Anyway, can you design a DWH or are you simply able to build one to requirements? What about the reporting and UI side of things - Crystal Reports, for example?
In short, database work should be achievable in Switzerland so look at the sticky in the employment section about English-speaking jobs. It's full of links.
I can build a DWH application based on a requirement, i still haven't reached the level of Designing a DWH but slowly getting there.
I dont have experience in Crystal. i have done a lot of administration work on Business Objects (migration, upgrade , cluster/distributed installs ..etc) and i have developed UI reports using BO reporting (Webi) and also Xcelsius (Dashboards).
