James Cameron's Avatar

Of course, being in Ticinio, nothing will be offered in English...

As long as you're not wearing huge round monsters, they fit over normal glasses fine.

really? i saw the trailer and it looked rubbish!! still i will go and see it and blame you...

By all means blame me.

russkov - was it at balexert you saw it and was that were it is 3d?

I went to the premiere in Lausanne. It's shown at Balexert in 3D VO at 16:00 and 20:45 every day. The Saturday showing at 20:45 is already sold out!

Yep that is true, would be cool though

Same here. I couldn't quite make out who it's aimed at, kids or sci fi / fantasy sorts.

It looks like a CGI sci-fi cartoon, and got no indication of much of a plot, but the name James Cameron may give it some kudos.

I guess this will mainly appeal to New Skool Trekies and fans of Deep Space Nine.

Especially popular with guys (90% of IMDB voters) and under 18s

Think I'll give it a miss. I can't get into CGI or people dressing up as aliens. Maybe worth watching later on BluRay to see what the graphics are like.

That's actually the 3-D that makes this movie very interesting.

The story is actually very mature and has universal appeal. You just need to get past the blue people, which you literally do like after 30 seconds of seeing them. But oh well, can't please everyone.

I can't wait to see this, looks awesome... but then I am an avid sci-fi/fantasy fan so I woul say that. Might see it this weekend if I get chance.

bring back Farscape ... oh for an anal probe ....

I saw the trailers for this and it looks amazing. As tempted as I am to see it in 3D, I think I'll stick to 2D as my last 3D film ended with me jumping on a complete stranger because I thought the character was really coming out of the screen for me and I had to duck.

The 3D is very well executed, and it's not "jump out at you" gimmicky, but more immersive. In fact, I don't remember any peek-a-boo jump moments. Trust me, you've never seen 3D employed quite like this, it's more like a window into another world.

Would you say that it's suitable for children aged around 8 years old?

They may be admitted but will they find it engaging enough or are the themes too adult?

thx

I think the legal age is 12, it is in this canton at least, so don't expect for them to be admitted. It's a bit violent at times, but they'll love the imagination on display, especially if you see it in 3D. They'll be bugging you and asking you if Pandora is a real place afterwards.

There are some emotional and sad scenes towards the end, but nothing as intense as more recent blockbusters like The Dark Knight, for example.

The double vision is on account of the beer Slaphead, not the 3d

Oh yes Please, Farscape was one of the best series ever.

Looks like a cool movie, any idea where i can see this in English in Zurich ?

In 3D you can see it in Arena (Sihlcity), also in abaton and Pathe Dietlikon.

Check the show timings on their websites.
