Does anyone know where I can get a japanese hair straightening (perm) in Switzerland? I usually do it when I go to NY but Im not going back for a few more months and need to get the perm done pretty soon. Thanks for any feedback

now a days the straightening used is called a Keratin treatment and is offered in many salons in zurich and other kantons. In fact, I saw in groupon an offer just recently. Look under keratin treatments. Best places are the latino shops and brasilian hairdressers who offer top line products from latin america and great prices. I have been considering getting a permanent hair straightening treatment on my hair for a long time but Im hesitant and worried it will damage my hair or that it may not even work and fullfill my extra sleek hair dream
So I wanted to ask you, did the japanese product actually work? if so, I would also be interested to know where can I get it done in Zurich. Keratin treatment sounds like a totally different thing to me.

Yes you are correct the Japanese and keratin treatments are different, I've had both and prefer the Japanese because it's stronger and lasts longer than the keratin. My hair is very very curly so I prefer the stronger one. The main difference is that when the keratin comes out of your hair all of your hair goes back to curly. With the Japanese when comes out of your hair only the new growth, or the roots, start curling. I've been getting the Japanese perm for 3 years now and my hair is just fine, of course it's a perm so it's not wonderful for your hair but it has done wonders for me. Oh I also color my hair about every 2-3 months.

Also, I do need to find the Japanese Perm not the Keratin treatment because I've had both and the japanese is a lot better in my opinion, it's stronger and lasts longer. Familiahenttonen, if I dont find the japanese treatment I may consider the keratin but I havent seen Ramonas salon and I live in the same street maybe I need to put more attention when I walk, thanks for sharing.
Just a little question on the side: why is it called Japanese straightening ? Don't Japanese people have perfectly straight hair anyway?
If you enjoy a weekend in London, you can do it over there. There are many good Japanese/Chinese/Malaysian hair salon. It costs between GBP 80-150 but it lasts for a year at least.

After the treatment, do you still need to use the iron to straight your hair? I had the keratin done and after few weeks, I needed to use it they didn't come back as curly as before but to have very straight hair, I need to work on them.
Will it be the same with this treatment?
My friend at work has just had it done. She said one of the most important factors that people seem to forget about is, that after the treatment, you're not supposed to wash your hair AT ALL for at least 3-4 days . That's because the solution takes its time to work its magic!

Hi Ladies, I have gotten the Japanese Hair Straightening 3x in total with a 1.5 break between each session. I am asian w naturally wavey hair. Not the nice curly hair either.. lets say if i dont style my hair after a shower it comes out bag lady like!!
Needless to say, flat ironing and/or hot curlers (to force the nice curls) was part of my daily routine. Japanese hair straightening was the best thing I could have ever done for my hair. It was one time treatment vs 365 days of scorching heat. I can say now after 4ish-5 years of letting my hair be, its much healthier and shinier now.
The treatment gets my hair bone straight. So much so that in the first few months, even if I try to get hot rollers into it, it will barely hold the curl. (Whereas before, my curl will last though a late night out and into the morning.) Eventually the new curly hair grows in but the bottom is still straight. I love the inbetween stage bc it gives it tons of body. Also, I ask the hairdresser to start the straightening about 1 cm from the scalp so its not super sleek in the first month or so.
As the previous poster stated, no washing for 3 days. Do not tuck your hair behind your ears for 2 weeks. No hair bands, pins, or clips for 2 or 4 weeks I forget now.
When I go back a year and half later for touchups, I pay another $80 to put on this protective cream on the processed hair and they use the stronger japanese chemicals on the roots.
Sorry for the long winded answer. No, I dont need to use a hot iron.. I am 100% happy w the treatment. I will continue to get them done when I visit home. It has saved me hours and hours of sitting in front of the mirror straightening section by section. Funny thing is now there are days when I miss the curls. About 4-5 months after the treatment my hair will begin to hold a curl again.

Please allow me to report my experience.
I went to a Japanese treatment yesterday. It took around 3 hours to be done. The concept is the same of a perm in term of steps. The product is applied on clean hair and let for around half an hour. The hair are rinse and and they are dried and straightened with the flat iron. After that, they are rinse again again and a product is put to fix. It is left in for an other 20 minutes or so and rinse again. After that only a blow dry is needed and the hair are super straight. Flat of the flat.
The good news is the hairdresser used a product from Matrix which means I have to wait only 48 hours before I can wash them again.
My hairs are super smooth and shiny. I am very pleased to find out that the ends of my hairs aren't split or broken as it felt before the treatment. I thought I needed them to be cut but it turns out they are super smooth from the root to the end.
I'll see how they turn out tomorrow when I wash them. So far, I am very pleased. The only downside part is that I don't have any volume in them anymore but I guess it will come back once washed and blow dry.
I think this will be the easiest hair do I ever had. No need of products to enhance the curls, no need to use the flat iron to straight them, etc.
In the long run, it will keep my hair healthier for not using the straightener.
