Are the makers of Javel having a laugh, I've just but some bleach down the toilet to freshen them up (not that it was unclean etc). Anyway its turn the toilet yellow!!!! I’ve just spent 20mins scudding both toilets to get them clean and get rid of the stains that weren't there before... Has anyone else come across this strange occurrence? Or any other product I should keep well away from.
I'm not suggesting that your lavatories were anything but fragrent and sparkling, but, could the bleach be sticking to the limescale? Our toilets get horribly discoloured by this and I spend a goodly proportion of my life scrubbing them.
I think you can get tablets that sort of fizz up and if you leave them overnight should make your toilets sparkling clean and not need 20minutes scrubbing
I've also heard that denture tablets do the same job but have no idea if thats true... suppose it makes sense of a sort....
Javelwasser is just the same as Clorox, a straight bleach that will not remove mineral deposits (kalk) at all. Go to Coop and get WC-Ente, WC-Gel forte. Squirt it around the inside of the rim, let it spread down then smear it around with the toilet brush. Let it sit for 10-15 minutes, then brush around the rim and down in the siphon again and flush and you're done, if not, repeat. Should now be sparkling clean and fresh.
Do not scrub or scrape with anything abrasive. That will just scratch the porcelain and make a surface that mineral deposits adhere too even bettter.
