Job for (LPIC-302) Cetified System Specialist (Linux)

Hi,

I've been looking for a job for Linux System Specialist, but haven't found many especially cause I cannot relly speak Swiss German yet, but my technical English is really good and I've been used to been contacted by our customers with phone and email with English language. I can also speak some Dutch and German language, but I'm really not familiar with Swiss German yet !

I used to work in Helsinki University and one datacenter and service provider in Finland and I'm familiar with all operations in datacenter like, cabling (ethernet, fibre, electricity), installing of servers and fixing broken components, configuring switches and routers (HP,Cisco,Juniper), updating and administration of our virtual server infrastructure (Xen,Vmware) Installing OS'es and software etc.etc....

I've +10 certificates for servers and security and the "highest" of 'em is LPIC-302 (Linux Professional Institute: lpi.org) but I've also MSCA and three F-Secure Policy Manager certificates for Windows servers.

In server administration I'm mostly consonstrated in Linuxes and I've experience in most of the Linux distributions, but I'm most familiar with Debian, RedHat and Gentoo Linux (which I use as my desktop OS).

So, if you've any suggestion for some companies or websites who needs my kind of professional I'd be pleased to have some links or information about 'em

I'm now "hanging" around Ticino area and I've understanded that these kind of jobs are in Zurich/Zug area. But I don't have own apartment or anything in here and I'm ready to move in any part of Switzerland (French part would be the worst, cause I don't know the language at all).

Waiting for your suggestions and answers

I forget to add my other profession which is Computer Mechanic

Hi TuttiX2 ,

Welcome to the forum.

I would not worry too much about the language skills (or lack thereof) as there are lots of international companies present where the working language is in fact English.

I'm currently working in Romandie (second job while in Switzerland) and my French is brutal at best, but as English is the company language all is fine. Yes, quite a few meetings are in French but you learn it pretty quickly without knowing, just a matter of time.

Best of luck and be open to any area in Switzerland...

Thanks for your answer Frank2k.

So I shouldn't exclude the French part of Switzerland from my job seekings, that would sound good cause I've heard that's nice area and one of my friend is living at Lausanne. And I've sended one job application to CERN in Geneva, but they send the answer that they choosed someone else to that job (I think the French was the reason)

Are you living in that area and is it possible to live in there without knowing French ?

Do you know any datacenter companies in there ?
