Jungfraujoch for SFr. 67 available at Coop

The central Switzerland Coop stores are offering a voucher to visit the Jungfraujoch for 67.--. Two children are allowed to go up for free with this voucher. With a purchase of SFr.100, you automatically get a voucher. For SFr. 200, you get two vouchers.

The offer is good until June 14.

I believe you can find vouchers being sold on Ricardo if your local Coop is not part of the Jungfraujoch promotion.

I'm out of vouchers. Please no more pm's. When I get some more, I'll send them out in the order of pm received.

Hello

Do you have the voucher for the buy 100 then pay 67 for Jungfraujoch,

or are you selling the tickets to Jungfraujoch for 67 only?

Is there a time limit for this?

thanks for the help.

Anwar

I bought SFr. 200 worth of groceries and got two vouchers for free. One voucher is for SFr. 100-199 worth of groceries. Two vouchers for 200 - 299 worth of groceries and so on.

When you spend 100 CHF, you get a voucher. You then take this to the train station to buy your train ticket for 67 CHF (actually I think that it's 64). The ticket is only good on the Jungfraubahn from Interlaken Ost (or Grinelwald or Lauterbrunnen). You need to get to there on your own.

I'm not selling the vouchers.

Yes, it is only SFr. 64.--. Thanks for correcting the info.

I guess this is the time until which you can get the tickets. Until when can you take the trip?

Thanks!

The offer is good only until June 14, 2009. You can no longer use the coupon after June 14, 2009.

My vouchers are gone. I get a few of these a week though. If I haven't responded to your pm, I'll let you know when I have some more.

At the risk of going off topic, is it really such a great trip? In all my years here I've never made it - I'd much rather go hiking in the region if I'm schlepping over from Zurich than something 'touristy' - but I have guests soon and am wondering about using these vouchers.

Can anyone tell me their thoughts on heading up the Jungfraujoch and is it much better than say, going up the Säntis or Pilatus? Thanks!

I went up there a few weeks ago. If the weather is good it is definitely worth the visit. The peaks in the region are impressive and taking a train through the Eiger was pretty cool for me (the train stops so you can take a peak out of some windows on the North face of the Eiger). Of course, the clouds moved in as soon as we made it to the top so the views weren't very good. Depends on what you're into but I agree, it would be as rewarding to take the train up to Kleine Scheidegg and do some hikes in the area without taking the trip up to the Jungfraujoch. I preferred the Jungfraujoch over Pilatus.

Right, the jury's still out on this one, as we didn't make it.

I took some friends over to Interlaken a couple of days ago (if driving from Zurich, go via Luzern rather than Bern - and see the Rigi and Pilatus on your way ) and I learnt a lesson:

Arrive early!

What I didn't research beforehand is the train ride up to the Jungfraujoch takes around 2hrs 30mins - each way!

Should you arrive at Interlaken Ost after lunchtime, you'll have very little time to actually enjoy the destination of your long journey.

The ticket office informed us that the last train departs around 14.10 or so, giving one precisely 18mins to enjoy the attractions before having to get the last 2hrs 30mins train ride down. Cue rather non-plussed visitors who took lunch in an empty asian restaurant and asked how far away the Matterhorn was, instead

further to Uncle Max's thoughts,

you really want to be getting to the top as early as possible. if the weather closes in, which is highly likely the later in the day you leave it, you will be in a ball of fluffy white clouds and your long train trip and money will have been wasted. Also worth checking weather predictions for the region before going.

all this aside, the JFJ is an excellent day out. It was the first place I saw snow (ever) and I had a great time. As scientists, we were lucky enough to get right to the top to visit the research base which is a bit higher up than the regular viewing platform. The view is amazing. :-) (i'm sre PeteD can offer a bit more advice on this as he has been there more times than I have)

do remember: when you leave home in the morning, the weather may be pleasant outside, but at the top the temperatures are cold. Factor this into your planning. Take food with you and lots of water, you will need it for energy and the prices increase (ridiculously) with altitude. Take your time at the top, the reduced oxygen is noticeable. Don't go up there after a big night on the sauce. And, if you smoke give it a rest for a couple of days before.

enjoy your trips, but plan them well.

If any one has two vouchers zou can pass to me we are intrsted to go to jungfru

thx a lot

We went yesterday. A perfect day. Not a cloud in the sky.

It takes almost 2.5 hours by train from Interlaken Ost to Jungfraujoch. We did the loop, going through Wengen on the way up and going through Grindelwald on the way down.

About 50% of Jungfraujoch tourists are from India. The Jungfraujoch main building smells like an Indian restaurant.

The self-service restaurant has reasonably priced meals. The daily special was SFr. 17 for geschnetztles and noodles.

Go to the Sphinx building for warmth, no smell and great views.

Take a break at Kleine Scheidegg. The views of the mountains are beautiful from there too.

A young Swiss boy vomited in the Jungfraujoch train on the way down. That was one stinky ride.

I felt the altitude difference on top. Go a bit slower and it should be alright. We saw a few people suffering and felt for them.

The Coop coupons are great. It cost my family of four SFr. 128 for a roundtrip from Interlaken Ost to Jungfraujoch.

P.S. The Swiss hospitality was unfortunately not at its best. The BOB staff was cranky and unsmiling. They need some lessons on friendliness.

Ahh then it is not so great offer as I though, expensive to go there if you live far away.

Would like to point out that I saw a may offer @ sbb banhof that you can get the whole jurney (e.g. from Basel and to the top) for 100 buks if you have halbtax, 200 for others...

That is good deal witch I will take

I'd suggest you write to the BOB people with a specific description of what happened and describe what you would expect from a tourism service provider.

If you do, let us know the response.

Hi,

I am planning to go there during the 16-17 May weekend from Zurich. Anyone has any idea if some hiking can be squeezed into a single day trip? If it can't all be done on the same day, I could perhaps go to Interlaken the previous day (16th) and hike nearby mountains, and keep the 17th purely for this train trip and back home. Any suggestions from those who know the place would be highly appreciated. Thanks

Btw I have a coupon valid for 2 people covering round trip from Interlaken-Jungfraujoch, and one place is free. It would be great if some sporty person* wants to hop along and join me for this trip .

* When I go to the mountains I avoid wasting any time in restuarants etc, and maximise the time enjoying the nature

From Interlaken Ost, it takes almost 2.5 hours to get to Jungfraujoch by train.

You'll be faster if you drive to Grindelwald and take the train up to Kleine Scheidegg. The disadvantage to this is that you can't do the following loop: Interlaken, Lauterbrunnen, Wengen, Grindelwald, Interlaken

My recommendation for a hike would be from Kleine Scheidegg towards the Eiger. There are fantastic views.

Alternatively, from the top of Jungfraujoch you can trek across the glacier.
