I lived in Zürich until recently and had an account at ZKB. I recently moved to Basel-Land and was informed at the local BLKB that the various Kantonalbanks were not the same.
Question: does it make sense to change banks?

Depending on what you want from your bank?
For example, do you do everything online or need to visit branches?
Do you have one account, or many?
Do you have a safe deposit box?
Even Raffeisen isn't the same from Kanton to Kanton, if you need to do something in branch they struggle to help you. We have only used national banks due to this - and the availability of help in English.
That's right. Just like the Bank of England and the US Treasury are not the same.
