In one particular burger. I am sure this claim is correct. False product advertisements are illegal in the EU and in Switzerland by the way.
I don’t think everybody gets a hard-on from riding on that high horse as you seem to do.

Are you saying that obesity is not a problem in Europe and fast food is not a major cause?
Or does imagining me in a sexual way excite you more?
No and no. But you constant talking down from your moral high ground in several threads is seriously pissing me off. Let people have their KFC or whatever once in a while.
Put me on ignore.
It’s not a moral stand point. It’s a public health problem - and it’s a massive problem but yes, probably the wrong thread to discuss public health.
Why should foreigners (or anyone) police what others eat? Should we also ban Swiss wines, fondue or chocolate? They don’t seem to be particularly healthy either.
There’s more to life than optimizing health. Enjoying an treat now and then is not a problem.
No it’s not a problem. It’s also not the problem.
Agreed. That’s why I drink, go to fast food restaurants (now and again), eat ice cream and chocolate, and most other things, never go to a gym, don’t follow any fad diets and so on.
I think that could change here too. I have seen kids of various ages going to fast food restaurants (usually McDonalds) without their parents. OK, I know that teens/pre-teens have a fast metabolism but the idea is they too are exposed to this way of life. Luckily fast food is not very cheap here.
I actually like the Swiss meat in general, maybe not so much chicken (or pork) in particular. But it’s OK.
Discussing public health in a thread about KFC is like discussing death in the EV car thread. Yes, people die from car accidents, but it’s absolutely not what we’re discussing.
Back on track, there might be something with the…lets call it…inferior taste of Swiss chicken. When we buy those plump, yellow chicken from France its like having an entirely different meat. Never did much shopping in Germany, so can’t compare, but the french poultry is indeed quite superior.
The Chicken in fast food restaurants is not from Switzerland.
I did post a link from Swiss Farmer but @Kommosolez said “False product advertisements are illegal in the EU and in Switzerland by the way”.
Anyway, KFC no longer state 100% Swiss chicken.
As for the others:
From overseas and the EU
The American company Burger King is similar to KFC: “The chicken meat comes from Brazil, Germany and other EU countries.” Does the fast food giant McDonald’s, which values words such as animal welfare and national purchasing policy, purchase chicken meat from Swiss farmers? No.
“The chicken breasts that Ospelt processes for us in Sargans SG come from companies in Brittany (F) and Hungary that strictly adhere to the stricter Swiss animal welfare standards in terms of husbandry, feeding, stocking density and daylight requirements,” writes McDonald’s Switzerland upon request . So is Swiss chicken too expensive for these three fast food giants? There is too little available on the Swiss market, says McDonald’s.
So, whatever the taste of Swiss chicken, it’s not the problem here.
German meat, especially chicken is disgusting - bland and full of water. Avoid.
Attaboy. You have reached Pancakes level.
It’s considered polite to reference someone when you quote what they wrote on a forum. That’s what I did.
You didn’t read the article very well and misunderstood it and I called you out on it.
You have to buy the expensive French chickens for them to taste any better in my opinion, the regular french chickens are pretty grim too.
That’s true. But the better ones are pretty widely available in France which isn’t the case in Germany.
I think that’s the point: the yellow-fatty ones I’ve seen only in France (and in my late grandmothers backyard in a village 20 years ago). Its quite possible they’re available somewhere in a farmers market here in der Schweiz, but I haven’t seen them
We can get them in Manor here, at a price of course.
Hm, never thought about looking for chicken there. I’m buying octopus from there tomorrow so if they have them, my monthly chicken broth will be made for the first time with swiss chicks! thanks
Speaking of chicken, is it allowed to buy live chicken? I don’t think I’ve ever seen live chicken for sale in Europe, but maybe I’ve only visited very tame places…
C’mon…animal abuse is certainly something we should have moved on from…
How on earth in your mind do you go from live animals to animal abuse?!
Back to fast food, I went to Popeyes in Oerlikon and was very disappointed. There was a stench of burnt oil as soon as I walked in, but I still went ahead and ordered a chicken burger combo meal with wings. The chicken was dry, the lettuce anaemic and the bun tasted weird (like some sort of long life bread from a packet). The wings were OK, but the fries had the taste of the burnt oil which meant they were inedible.
I mentioned it to the staff who were a bunch of college kids (no manager present) and they just shrugged it off. KFC definitely has better quality control.
