Kick Ass - The Movie

I've been looking forward to the release of this new superhero flick directed by Matthew Vaughn and Brad Pitt which stars Nicolas Cage (as Big Daddy) and the fantastic Chloë Grace Moretz as Hit-Girl. The movie trailers have been doing the rounds since last summer, I can't remember a movie being so hyped in advance as Kick Ass has been.

So, it's off to the theater this weekend to see if it's all been worth the wait. Let's read what you all think of this load of nonsense, fun packed Hollywood adult trash. "Wait 'til they get a load of me".

Dude, that's such a chick flick.

I saw Kick Ass when I was in the UK a few weeks back. it is hilarious and definately worth going to see. It's a little strange seeing a 12 year old girl dropping the c bomb every now and then and slaughtering loads of people but its such a good film.

GO SEE IT!!

Saw it in Dublin two weeks ago and absolutely loved it. Very very fun flick.

It's a tricky balancing act to alternate between funny, satirical, and raw, and this film pulls it off in style.

i thought they stopped making these kind of movies..

What's your point, caller?

Yes, please explain. It's the Incredibles for adults with guns, shoot 'em ups and lots of swearing, what's not to like?

Almost perfect premise... but Nick Cage. Sigh. Ever since that thing with the motorcycle and the receding hairline I just can't deal with him.

I'm holding out for Iron Man 2, myself (Robert Downey Jr, RRRWowrr!).

Sorry, what were we talking about?

Ya Iron Man 2 should be good..

but I cant wait for The Expendables...its going to be the kickass film of all time...

Nick Cage is actually quite good at the role so don't let him put you off. But I do know what you mean. That Ghost Rider film was rubbish! Also Iron Man 2 is going ot be eipc

I'm going to see it based on this priceless "review" from the The Daily Heil!

(check out the comments section below the article )

Roger Ebert also wrote a scathing review of it: http://rogerebert.suntimes.com/apps/...IEWS/100419986

I can't really argue with anyone who dislikes the film for moral reasons. I will say they're overthinking it and are oversensitive, but I understand. It's kind of hypocritical of Roger Ebert considering he liked Wanted, and that movie did all but say that killing was the solution to life's problems. Kick-Ass is a bit more ambiguous in its morality, and is much more fun.

Nick Cage is often something close to a "deal breaker" for me also but my disfavor of him began with Raising Arizona way back when... something about his voice / speaking style gives me shivers - and not in a good way.

I AM looking forward to seeing Iron Man 2, Robert Downey Jr has long been a favorite of mine, a "hazard" perhaps of being a teen in the 80s.

However - Kick Ass looks to be a good fun romp! I'm planning to see it next week with hubby and maybe some of his coworkers.

Yup, he's usually a deal breaker for me, too! The advantage of "Kick Ass" is that he's wearing a mask and speaking in a different, distinctly non-Nicolas Cage, voice. At least in the clip that I saw.

He was just on The Tonight Show talking about Kick Ass with Jay Leno . In case you don't recognize him, Cage is the guy with the blond hair.

Brilliant! I bet the reviewer was hoping to pander to the usual crowd of Middle-England bigots. Quite the opposite . Funnily enough, they are no longer accepting comments.

Pah, its not even in 3D and even though my wild neighborhood kids will love it they'll have to wait til Wed April 21.

How about watching the new Luc Besson movie instead Mr Assassin.

Thanks for the tip Miss Sada. I loved AngelA, a very class movie, which would have brought me to tears if I was equipped with suitable ducts. But does Adele have purple haired young girls in it calling bad guys "c**ts"?

Well Adèle is quite a character herself you know ...

It looks a little Lara Croftesque pour moi. Besson re-discovers color and freaky Hollywood special effects and absurd story lines. Now AngelA was pure joy, love and depth and I have to admit that I found Rie Rasmussen rather delightful to both the eye and other senses. Sorry, AngelA is about my all time favorite and cannot be über-trumped.

Saw it in English last night at Abaton which is the only place it's being screened at the moment. Really excellent film. From the direction to the casting to the cinematography to the script, everything was truly original and well executed. The violence it shows is depicted with an attitude more relaxed than anything I've seen in the past so don't take your underage kids to see it. Other than that - see it!
